You Choose My Next Cover Song! Open call for cover suggestions for the next YouTube video post!

Published 2020-10-28
Hi all! I recently launched a new monthly playlist called 'JESSA & Friends' here on YouTube and on Spotify, and in the process of curating it got me thinking about playing other artists' songs. From what i understand, you folks have some pretty great taste in music, so I'm asking that you share your faves with me! I wanna do some cool versions other artists' material, so type your cover song request in the comments below and will choose directly from your suggestions!

As you probably know, I sing, play guitar and also play the Japanese 13-stringed koto (which is much harder to do covers on - watch this vid to learn exactly why!), so I'm hoping to be inspired by your song nominations to choose both a cover for guitar and also one for koto. Any song is fair game from any era or any genre (and anything in English, French, Japanese or Hebrew) - i'm really excited to have a bunch of new tunes to dig into from your input, so show me what you got! :)

Background music in this video is the instrumental of my version of Eurythmics' "Here Comes The Rain" from The Jessica Stuart Few's Two Sides To Every Story. Stream/download/check the full version here:

I used to sing Sweet Dreams as a warm up. I'll look up that cover. 👍 My suggestion is Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Hoedown. It's instrumental so it might be easier. Thank you and have fun.
  • Or Ichiko Aoba, since you sing Japanese? The Rain from Light and Shadow is my favorite
  • I just found you from the Fukue video! Crazy, are you guys still chatting? Also good music, will be listening.

Hi Jessica, I came from the documentary and stayed for the music, I just wanted to say that I love your music and personality, in terms of covers how about Redondo beach by Patti Smith, I just think that you have a lovely voice and it would fit you well ❤️

There is this Japanese song called “Inochi No Kioku” by Kazumi Nikaido that would be so special to hear (even just one verse)!

I am late to show, as ever,. I get this. Because I like options, I'll suggest two. - Galaxy 500 'Tugboat Captain' - Gorillaz 'El Menana'. Or 'On Melancholy Hill'.

Hi, Jessica! I don't know if you remember me but you taught my school. We did "symple little song together". Where is the song we did together because I remember you saying "this will be on youtube". If I can have the link to it, that would be great! All the best! BTW its Sid.

Have you considered channelling your inner Nancy Sinatra? How about Bang Bang or These Boots are Made for Walkin'?

it would be so cool to hear a BTS cover from you! there isn't a particular song i have in mind to suggest, but i think you would do them all justice :) most of their lyrics are korean, but they have japanese versions of almost all their songs and their latest single, dynamite, is all in english!
