How many types of bears exist? 😲 In this new AnimalWised video, we talk about one of the most feared and revered animals in the world, the wild bear. While there are many different types of subspecies, there are only 8 extant bear species left in the world. These wild bear populations vary according to habitat destruction and conservation efforts, with some numbers rising, but many still under threat. These bear species include the sun bear, the sloth bear, the spectacled bear, the brown bear, the Asian black bear, the American black bear, the giant panda and the polar bear. Dude, check your facts. Black Bears are not rare in the states. Their conservation status is "Of Least Concern". It's not unusual to see them in the Northeast.

American black bears aren’t extinct in most states. They are abundant. I’ve lived in 7 states and I’ve seen them in every one. Currently in downstate NY and just seen my 1st one.

This store in Michigan has a Kodiak and a Polar Bear stuffed next to one an other. Makes you feel small.

1:00 Like he has hands and legs, and in front of the frame we can see him just puts his palms on the ground!

Don't be fooled by this video. I live in Clearfield Pennsylvania, I have SEEN black bears in person, they are FAR from extinct.

What about the Growler/Pizzly - Polar bears are crossing with grizzly bears (a subspecies of brown bear) due to merging habitats and the offspring are fertile

You said that the Asian black bear lives in the western half of Asia, that's false. They live exclusively in east Asia, like China, Japan Korea, and Vietnam. Not Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Iran
  • I for one very much like brown bears - which is in part due to a rather personal connection with one of them. Edit: Also, I like it that this channel expands beyond just cats and dogs - and I hope to see more of this in the future.
