I've bought a 2005 R53 Mini Cooper S from Copart with the description stating it had a undiagnosed noise from the engine bay. After getting the car, I quickly discovered a very strange noise on lift off and a lack of power. After a bit of research, its pointing towards the timing being out. So, in this video I change the timing chain, chain guides and tensioner to hopefully resolve the problem!

Loose or very worn DMF flywheel bolts/springs?

Have you checked the bypass valve (located near throttle body under the right hand supercharger horn, these cause running issues when the spring goes bad but you won't get a direct code out of it, on the come down in revs thay tend to bounce open and closed and if they fail they stay open directing most of the air the wring way

How did you manage to use that pulley kit to get the crank pulley off, I can't work out how as none of the bolts seem to be right

I would also suggest doing Maintenance on ur Supercharger. Is there any codes when you were idling?? How long was this Mini sitting b4 you bought it??

that vaccum line to the inlet manifold will keep falling off, you will need to zip tie it or use a small hose clamp to secure it.

Sounds like there's a break in the air intake rubber boot on your car.

If what my son Richard has told me about your mini and you suggested it runs lumpy I should think your cat is blocked if your lucky and careful you might be able to remove and flush out but don't forget to check the O2 sensors for lumpy running is it over fueling maybe ? Good luck great vid.
