Love it or hate it, fishing is a skill you have to get used to in Stardew Valley if you eventually want to complete your collection. But what if you wanted to go one step further and fill that collection, start to finish, in a single in-game day? Is something like that even theoretically possible, let alone actually achievable?

Well, there's only one way to find out!

Howdy, everyone! Thank you SO much for all the kind words and the amazing response this video has gotten, I'm absolutely floored. Seeing all of your reactions to this project has been an incredible experience and it made the countless hours of work worthwhile.💖 Quite a few people were curious about seeing the full, uncut version of the final attempt, so I posted it with a bit of extra commentary & insight into the challenge as it was being played. Check it out here if you're interested! https://youtu.be/fcNdKzWmdB4

Congratulations to Chloe!! The epitome of "women want me, fish fear me"
  • @jjpgaming7995
I guess the answer to the question in the title is no. YOU can’t catch every fish in one day, but ArgonMatrix can.

The production quality here is insane, I'm super impressed. Not just by the challenge, but the storytelling is so well done, the graphics and the intermission cutscene, the animations, it's incredible. As an aside, the Haley cutscene hits different when you think about how you're resetting one day over and over. I'm imagining that Chloe told her about the time loop in the days between the 11th and the 15th, and after that, over and over again she'd see her wife coming back exhausted for the second time that was actually years of attempts she'd never see. More work put into the challenge than she'd ever be able to understand, but she remains supportive even in the lowest point. Even on the day the time loop could have ended and they could have seen spring come, she encouraged Chloe to follow her dreams into eternity once more. Is this reading too much into it? Maybe. Probably. But it's nice to think about as a metaphor for the video as a whole. And it's just a nice story to imagine.

No one tell him about the new fish in 1.6
  • @Leav3ye
this video is actually the most impressive stardew video ive ever seen. the editing is unbelievable????? like seriously professional level
  • @Wickedy
We all dream of finding someone as committed to us as Argon is committed to getting this challenge done. #relationshipgoals
  • I love how you got Haley's characterization as a spouse so right! I feel like most people brush her off as shallow and dumb, but shes actually one of the most caring and supportive spouses! I love her

I watch a LOT of video game challenge runs on YouTube. They’re my favorite type of video. And I mean it when I say you’ve made something really special here. The editing. The explanation of mechanics. The unique assets created for tracking the route and the fishing at every single moment. This video could have been so typical but instead you absolutely overloaded it with love and dedication and it shows. You’re a great storyteller. First video of yours I’ve ever seen and now I’m so excited to dive into the rest of your channel. Congrats on the achievement and thanks for bringing us along for the journey.
  • @MxOwenAlexander
I clicked for silly Stardew challenge content, stayed and subscribed for the sheer determination, extensive effort, and passion for the craft. Very nicely done.
  • @ChanceTheCheetah
Absolutely phenomenal storytelling. This was more of an animated feature film with all the editing
  • @merrakie5216
I'm in absolute awe from this video. Its so common to see video intros be overly edited then drop off to be lackluster after a few minutes. I was surprised to see this level of quality for the entire length of a video. Everything from the animations, helpful graphics, sound design, story telling, and making a whole Stardew cutscene was just so well done. I never thought I would find myself this invested in a Stardew challenge video but here I am. Incredible job!
  • @Peterrific4
DUDE! This needs some kind of commemoration in-game from the devs. This is seriously incredible. Not only the insane amount of research, work, dedication and sheer TIME put into this, but THIS VIDEO?? The editing, the storytelling, the graphical work, the sheer. Freaking. Quality on display here. This is incredible man. You've done something truly amazing here. Spectacular job!
  • @CKEternity
I'm in awe. The storytelling, the animation, the journey. Like many others in this comments I have tears from the ending. Truly beautiful.
  • @keelanbrydon2435
I put this video on for background noise while I was studying. I didn’t get any work done. That might have been the best stardew valley video I’ve ever watched. Props to you not only for your dedication to the challenge but for the amazing story telling and video editing
  • @RedGalago
Chloe's little cutscene with Haley was so cute! It really added to this video.
  • This video is such a love letter to Stardew Valley. I hope Eric gets to see this at some point, because if I had developed a game and somebody sank this much time, editing and narration into it, I would probably cry. Amazing journey!
  • @Stirdix
I was expecting you to eventually land on chair abuse for navigation (time stops when you hop on/off a chair, so you can get places in-game quicker by repeatedly hopping on and off chairs - a trick I read about for getting to Skull Caverns a bit earlier). But you managed to pull it off without it, which is all the more impressive.
  • @krelilia
This was an emotional rollercoaster in the best way - I loved it! The Chloe and Haley cutscene was so special. So beyond worth the wait! I know I’ll be rewatching this a ton
  • @greasy8496
It is immensely disappointing to me how this video has less than 200k views in 3 weeks. This is genuinely the best stardew video, potentially even the best video I've seen on Youtube. I started watching this, merely having it in the background. Often times, I'll watch video essays or documentaries or long videos like this in the background while I do other things. However, this video latched me so easily because of how amazing the storytelling was. This wasn't just a video about fishing in a game about farming. This was a story on one person's determination and motivation to complete the impossible. The way this video was formatted was so compelling and motivating that it truly wants me to fuel my determination in my own life. All of that's not even mentioning how incredible the editing is, especially right before the climax with all of the attempts before 583, following through how tense and lucky the final attempt was. That section was easy to follow, enunciated key points of information that added toward the conflict (such as the time, repeat catches, etc.), and was able to cleanly make a shift from a lighthearted nature that fueled the watcher's motivation along with Chloe to a more tense feeling as the time started to run down and the final fish were being caught. Despite being an hour and a half long, the mix between phenomenal storytelling and compelling editing made every minute of this video enjoyable to watch. I've never been the kind of person to leave comments or reviews on things, but I felt the need to express - potentially to no one wanting to read a long paragraph of a response - how much I love this video. This is the kind of videos I could write essays about for school or for college. This is the kind of video that can motivate me toward achieving my own goals. This is the kind of video that can lead people to become better people. All from 90 minutes about fishing in a farming game. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for creating this masterpiece.
