About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

normally ted talkers show you how to fix yourself when you don't fit into the sytem. this man shows that the system is the problem, not we
  • 12:37 "Food, Clothes, House, and Medicine must be cheap and easy for everybody, that is Civilisation. But if we make these four things very hard for people to get; that's uncivilised."
  • He's not telling everyone to do agriculture, build mud houses and wear torn clothes.
He's enabling us to differentiate need from desire. We need to learn when to stop in the pursuit of achievement before it's too late when we realize that we missed life in search of greed.
  • @binkding
    that was good.
    1. don't follow
    2. have time to think
    3. self reflect
    4. "lower expectations"
    5. be simple
    = life is easy
  • "People are becoming smarter, just to make the world more complicated"

    Very well said sir
  • He calls himself uneducated, but gives better answers than most „educated“ people. Education does not define wisdom and intelligence. This man clearly is intelligent and I‘m happy that he found his way in life!
  • He just opened my eyes. Life is easy, but we make it complicated to reach our unnecessary desires.
  • Can we come together and make this a global norm? I mean, let’s truly realize this. Life is easy. We allow ourselves to become convinced it’s hard!
  • "I spent one month to save money to buy a pair of jeans. Every time i look, i am the same person".
The most intelligent person i've heard in my life.
  • At present (July 2023), this video is 11years old and have 14 million views. But, I don't know how many people have learnt to live a simple life after watching this. Now a days, everyone is busy, frustrated and not satisfied with their lives. I believe in what he said ☺️

Thanks & lots of love 💕
  • "I can't change anything outside of myself, the only thing I can do is manage my mind" beautiful.
  • @becca8823
Reminds me of the Dennis McKenna quote: “As human beings, we’re very clever, but we’re not wise.”

    This guy is wise.
  • “ when I work hard, still my life is hard”. This line caught me, .
  • There's absolutely no way he can say he is uneducated, when he delivered such a powerful TEDx Talk 🙌🏾👏🏾💙 I am mind blown.
  • He isn't the hero we deserve, but he is the hero we need right now.
  • “A calm and humble life will bring more happiness than the pursuit of success and the constant restlessness that comes with it.” Albert Einstein
  • Simplicity is the key of happiness. This man lives like that - and me too! I had a very so called “rich“ life for 38 years, but I understood: RICH IS NOT WHO OWNS EVERYTHING. RICH IS WHO DOESN'T NEED IT...! I collected companies, materialistic things, had stress and got sick. So I gave all up and changed my life to a simple one. Now, after 30 years, I live on a beautiful beach on a beautiful island in a warm country with warm hearted people, replanting my own food, getting eggs from my chickens, eating fishes from the sea, learned instruments to play autodidacticly, also painting, and live from playing saxophone in summertime some hours. I live mobile in a horse trailer, after travelling on a boat for many years, together with lots of stray cats and dogs and I'm very happy.
  • I think it is human comparison that leads to our life becoming more and more complicated and difficult!
  • @majtayao
I cried after listening to him. I dunno how to start the simple life. But I'll do my best and encrypt this in my mind. Thank you.
