I do appreciate the stone ground cover, the clearance of ground to the siding, and the flashing boots though... I don't ever see lint at my dryer outlet but I guess over time that could show. We have an effective screen in the dryer (older Maytag). I know that it is code to keep environmental vents away from window openings. it's very hard to achieve sometimes in design.

Is it that homeowners couldn't make the builder fix it, or they didn't care? Why even have an inspection then?

Best practice to keep the dryer vent away from the condenser, however there is no code for it so builders don't need to change it in relation to the condenser, the building official doesn't call it out, and if the builder is sued the plaintiff will loose. Should have been added to the code several cycles ago. It will affect choking up the coils on the condenser, absolutely. The warm air from the dryer won't affect anything they way the AC work, but to knowingly install a problem for your customer is just dumb product design. Could have ran it up the wall a bit above the condenser and exited (if there were no windows there) or through the roof easily during construction.

So, Casey, what are the consequences if they do not take your inspection points seriously and they do not fix it? Always look forward to your presentations.💯 You are teaching us so much! Cheers from Eastern Atlantic Canada ☺👷♀🪚 🇨🇦

Stellar caulk job on the dryer vent as well. 🤦
-
don't sign the closing papers until that's fixed oooof
-
I would not like the hot air from that vent being sucked right onto the cooling coils......just lessens efficiency
-
It is so so easy to fix this stuff early. What The heck.
-
I like your vids man, I also follow an Australian guy called site inspections who seems to be getting more and more views. Hop you can keep doing them

Is the architect at fault for this? Did the plans show these two house penetrations so close together? What would the builder have to change to fix this problem?
-
Our mr cool mini split is 9 feet down and 3 feet away from building and it is getting choked up by the dryer vent .even at that distance I end up cleaning it at least once a year
-
If the builder allowed this I would be leery of other defects in the house. And doesn't Austin TX require building inspections? Locality inspector asleep at the switch and shady builder probably just waiting for a tornado to blow it apart.
-
What does it mean? Hiring the inspector doesnt protect the owner in any way?
-
I would think the buyers would have more power against the builder. Obviously they are wasting their good money hiring you (just kidding Casey) because the builders don't fear the inspectors or the buyers.
-
and now what should happen? you did a report, they ignore it, home is ready and that is not correct

The title should have been "Homeowner had a chance..." I'm learning a lot from these videos, I hope you don't get whacked by house builders. Please be aware of your surroundings, and BTW in Texas you don't need a license to carry.
