Seven Blood-Stained Orchids - Nails in the Coffin

Published 2024-03-08
- I evaluate a victim’s response to a life-threatening situation based on a rating system I've coined as "Nails in the Coffin." When someone is killed on-screen, their actions and decisions determine the number of "Nails" they receive. If they exhibit tremendous resilience and make judicious choices, they can earn a commendable Four Nails in the Coffin. However, if they make inexplicable blunders or engage in imprudent actions, such as freezing in place or opting to run upstairs instead of seeking safety outside, I find it appropriate to assign just One Nail in the Coffin.
If the victim stood no chance of survival no matter what they could have done, I could give them 2 Nails in the Coffin.

With Great Kills, There Must Also Come...Great Nails!

  • Great work taking on this fun film! I forget how much I love these Giallo flicks! They have a terrific feel, and the kills are typically a little more eye opening and/or spectacular than a lot of American horror! Pastor Saunders was a good misdirect. Men of the cloth often succeed better as red herrings. I think he gets kind of a soft exit for a killer, but I feel it's worth it for the suspense engendered by forcing the audience to see it the way Julia sees it: the suspense is just exquisite! The Golden Nail Awards are going to be awesome!
  • I love this giallo, they're actually regarding it a krimi in Germany because of the Edgar Wallace connection so their cut is quite different from the version seen elsewhere, basically kill scenes are either edited differently or missing altogether (as I recall the first kill shown here isn't even there) and some scenes like Sabato knocking frantically on doors have one encountered person missing entirely. So basically, a shorter 'soft core' version so to speak appealing more to the straight thriller fans than say horror fans.

I thought I had watched this one but I don't remember this plot at all XD Looking forward to seeing what the final giallo pick is! Have a great weekend, UP <3
  • What a marvelous coincidence that we both released a video about an Umberto Lenzi film on the same day! This one is a bit...classier than the one I covered! 🤣🤣🤣
