The 5th Dimension Up, Up and Away

One of the greatest POP tunes EVER!! The arrangement alone is 5 stars out of 5!I I was 14 1/2 years old when this song came out in July of 1967 and couldn't afford to buy the album, so I bought the 45 (I think that it was 35 cents). I'm still listening in 2022 at 69 years old! This song has stood the test of time!!!

When Florence sings, "We could float among the stars together, you and I" I just know she's talking to me. I'd go anywhere with her in her balloon, or a plane, a truck, even a 1978 Chevy Nova.

I played this song for my kiddos when they were teeny tiny cubs…to this day, my middle child cannot let this one go….like myself. I raised them on harmony, soul, jazz, classic rock and songwriter series ballads…such a vibe

'Up, Up and Away' conveys such boundless anti-gravitational delight, that it was adapted into the most memorable of all airline jingles. The opulent harmonies of The 5th Dimension made every song they performed, a pure joy.

I will never get tired of this song, I remember hearing it for the first time I was like 4 or 5 and I always get this sensation for this song, I have different sensations for different songs ,but this song is like a part of me .

In 2016 I had a near fatal accident and was bedridden for a year with massive injuries. I don't know how or why as I had only the vaguest memories of this song (I would have been a toddler when this was big, and it wasn't even released as a single in the UK), but I had the urge one day to seek Up Up and Away out on You Tube. I must have watched all of the various videos of this song dozens of times but I swear this song helped aid my recovery. I really believed the enchanting Florence was willing me to pull through every time she pointed at the camera and sung "We could float among the stars together, you and I". Just the thought of floating among the stars with Flo I am convinced aided my recovery in double the time it would normally take. Since then I have gotten into all of the wonderful music of The Fifth Dimension. It has been like discovering a Holy Grail of music since they have been so overlooked and grossly underrated over the decades, the calibre of which really shines a light on the fakery and desperate antics of so many of today's attention-seeking performers.
