This spoke to me in an unusual way. I've mentored two teen-agers in foster care at different times and I can tell you that the monsters they deal with and revealed were small initially, but when they revealed their big monsters to me, that's when the challenge to stay invested became great. The bigger the monster or the more the monsters, the messier to one's neatly organized and preplanned life. Someday the monsters may move on, but for now, the man in the movie accepts the little girl with the monsters she has revealed and shows her that his ability to receive any and all of her monsters and still care about her is great...because he builds many more monster houses. Very profound for me. Thanks for making this cartoon.

Down from work his business lack, To then he found the right on track. A girl with lots of monsters pet, That made him cross and motion set. But lone he was the girl without, Who brought a gift on destine route. And poor he was his shop to grow, His heart was filled with riches show.

I love animations that can touch you in the heart, and I love even more the animations that can do that without even having any spoken word.  True skill, and gifted story telling! Great work

Grandpa with such gift, talent and kind... always children's favourite. My late grandpa was carpenter too.
  • @Sweetbites-
A special friendship like that, will last forever!
  • Beautiful. A very well told story. And for me the best thing is, there is NO dialogue. I think that is real secret of how to make a good film. Thanks for sharing.
  • Anyone else getting a Lilo and Stitch vibe from this? LoL and where the hell is she finding all these monsters? Lol
  • When I was a kindergarten teacher in Tokyo I made several lessons around this short and would treat my kids to it on a good day. I think they were as enchanted with it as I was. I can rewatch it in any mood, over and over, but it always picks me up. Thank you for sharing this.
  • I was obsessed with this animation years ago and it inspired me to keep designing monsters, now I'm a monster puppet builder. If the animator ever finds this comment, thankyou

Interesting design for the girls hair and I love the score...really pretty

more than half the time all these animations without dialogue what so ever turn out to be the best ones.

There is a small glitch at 4:44 if you want to correct it. The man's shirt is coming out through his hand. The story is really amazing, really touching.
  • 5:51-6:11 Did anybody else notice that the monsters "mysteriously disappear" for this segment.  It makes me think they were never real and they were her imaginary friends and that she's really all alone.  Wow, depressed myself.  But it makes it that much more heartwarming when the old man comes back

This is actually pretty beautiful. I love the animation and style, and I love how, even without dialogue, I could still tell what the story was. And the music is really nice.
