When is the last time you went to Starbucks, Loyal Theorist? Was it all the way back in September for a pumpkin spice latte? Or are you a regular Starbucks coffee drinker who prefers the iced caramel macchiato? Either way, you’re in for a REAL treat on your next Starbucks run because the company is putting OLIVE OIL in your coffee. Sure, it sounds gross; but it gets way worse…

FUN FACT: Me and the girls at my regular Starbucks are good friends, and the one day I walked in and told them I was going to try something different from my usual. The girl at the counter paused, beckoned me closer, and when we were both leaning over the counter she outright tells me "Dont order the new drinks. The oleato stuff? Its awful. Its been upsetting peoples stomachs and it isn't good." Needless to say, don't get it, bc if the people that work there are risking their jobs to warn you away then there's probably a reason

what’s absolutely insane to me is that we baristas were told that this isn’t a seasonal drink it’s PERMANENT

I had the Oleato Golden Foam when it debuted in Italy months ago. As an Italian olive oil lover, I was very intrigued, and it tasted okay. An interesting experience for sure. PROBLEM IS, I SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY ON THE TOILET. How Starbucks tested the product and still decided this was a good idea is beyond me. You've been warned!

Starbucks Barista here. Olive oil coffee is an actual thing, in one small town in Italy to make the coffee smoother. Apparently, the higher-ups wanted to create an authentic coffee experience, however, they weren't able to develop it well on a large scale. It's only offered in a few select stores right now, but I believe it may be expanding. Most baristas (from what I know) don't like it, don't think it's a good idea, and don't want to advertise or recommend the drink, but there's nothing we can do. This was a decision made solely by higher-ups without talking to those of us who regularly drink Starbucks, know the customers, and are the face of the brand (for legal reasons I do not represent the company and this is my own personal opinion)

As a starbucks barista, I was already disgusted when I heard about this drink. Luckily, none of the 4 starbucks in my area serve this yet, and I am hoping it stays that way.

i'd love to see a food theory on if you can really survive just drinking "meal replacement shakes" like Yfood, Soylent, Huel etc like to claim
  • @graphitewarrior
This fad totally misses the part where you’re supposed to REMOVE the less healthy ingredient before adding the equivalent healthy one. Usually the ingredient olive oil replaces is butter, which as far as I know is not a typical coffee add-in lol

What I don't like about Starbucks is that they don't show you the whole menu. I want something hot and sweet and the menu doesn't give me all the options, so I have to GOOGLE HOW TO ORDER COFFEE. Give us the whole menu! If putting it on the boards isn't feasible, hand out little paper ones! It's way better than whatever the heck you're doing!
  • @MostaChloe
As a Starbucks Barista, I was shocked when I heard that this was a real product that was being made. Genuinely thought it was a joke and now im making them.
  • @Skenjin
The thing is there actually are coffee preparations that include olive oil. But it is high quality oil, high quality beans, and methods Starbucks isnt using. Very big difference between the two.
  • @MikeBenko
Fun fact....there's an entire category of cocktails which are coffee/cocoa paired with wine. Typical wine pairing for coffee are dry reds and typical wine pairing for cocoa are ports and sherries.
  • @rikoea6530
The olive oil situation is like a fever dream. It's as if Oleo bought out the company and is now using it to push its products at the detriment of the store.
  • @TheBioBoner
The moment this drink was first announced to all the Starbucks partners, all of my barista groups were blowing up about how this was the worst possible idea - especially since YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO PUT OIL DOWN THE DRAIN, BUT WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL OF OUR DRINKS WHEN WE MAKE A MISTAKE??? DOWN IT GOES!
  • @alesacc
As an Italian, southern Italian, living that Mediterranean diet life, the idea of taking one spoonful of oil is so…..weird…. because we just use it all the time 😂😂
  • @RHouseThreat
6:02 as a Spaniard, I can tell you that we eat meat quite more often than just "sparingly" :)
  • @maiasavich2767
I drank a SAMPLE latte(served in a pupcup). My stomach stopped hurting literally 48 hours later.

MatPat: (Says drink is very bad for you) Also MatPat: (Makes his employee drink the drink)
  • @shiyian
I swear eventually starbucks is going to start adding coffee to coffee.
  • @user-kg5bi3sk4g
I have never heard of an Oleato before. Thank you for introducing me to this so I never make the mistake of drinking one. You are saving the lives of tastebuds here

Can we just appreciate how Mr. Santi sacrificed his tastebuds for us? Mad respect my man!
