New update just a reminder do NOT ignore the pressure, if you see 1.4 or more don't ignore it.
Noisy boilers - kettling - Popping - cold rads - cannot balance rads this video is all about fitting and auto by-pass and extra 12 ltr.+ vessel to solve many problems.
The boiler stays in condensing mode longer which is cheaper, the big double K's at the front of the house get hot sooner that saves money

    Very informative ♥️💐👍🏼

    Hi Peter,
This is very informative, thanks for the video. I am an end user trying to address old boiler problem (cold water tank in loft) with not much hot water pressure and some radiators in ground floor not heating up. I was checking options including going for new combi boiler. Interestingly, one guy suggested to go for a new combi with an small tank to make sure if multi showers can get the same pressure if used at the same time. I have never knew such a thing existed. Therefore, my question is the tank you showed is with a Combi or the old type boiler (sorry if this is very basic) ?

Enjoyed your video. Thank you. One quick question - does underfloor heating, rather than rads, change anything in the info you shared with us?
  • Any chance you could do a video on setting up an auto bypass properly please. Cheers and stay safe
  • The domestic heating design guide has the correct information. IMI offer correct information on setting system pressure and vessel sizing. Where do the standards say you must fit an automatic bypass ?

Which way up is best for the expansion vessel? Surely if air permeates through rubber, having the air at the bottom will eventually allow air into the system and into the pump/heat exchanger. If the air pocket is at the top it has nowhere to go and so firstly shouldn't lose charge as quickly (if at all) and won't get into the system?

Thank you . I was woken in the night with a continual sound from the expansion boiler I came down and released the pressure . It stopped . However this morning the black needle is on 2.5 and the red 1.5 how do i get to align them to1 ?

I don't have gas or a combi but I have a question about pressure vessels. I have an Ariston PRO 100 litre unvented water heater. I'm told this has an internal expansion vessel but I suspect it is faulty and it does not look like the appliance can be dismantled so I plan to add an external pressure vessel. Would a 5 litre vessel be adequate and does it need to be teed into the cold supply? It looks like I need a white vessel rather than a red one.
  • 10.20am, good video, very informative.
    Question
How do you work out the size of an expansion vessel. For instance a system with 17 radiators, mostly large, 3 zones, to 50 kw, commercial boiler, no expansion vessel present.

    Thanks.

Hi, I live in a 4 bed detached house with approx 15 radiators installed. I have just installing an extra pressurisation unit and my question is Should I pressurise both my vessels to 1.4bar or 1 bar? Many thanks.

I have an oil fired boiler and have recently got an expansion vessel installed... new pipe work and 7 rads upstairs and downstairs underfloor heating. House is about 200+ square meters. The pressure can never get up to a bar and takes an age to top up... (we are on a private spring that currently only has about 0.5 bar of pressure) how do I get it working properly. My plumber has ghosted me and I’m stuck?!
  • Do the same rules apply if you have a diesal oil system boiler with a 14 litre internal expansion vessel using in conjunction with a 300ltr unvented cylinder for both CH & DHW?
  • @BN-hy1nd
👍🏿 I have a mini expansion arrestor which isn't working in my opinion. Can I drain the system and then replace the arrestor with a new one? Much easier than recharging, I think.
  • @AbdulAminGani
Is it ok to install the expansion vessel above the combi boiler? I have more space upwards
  • @ianmccall5295
Hi I've over pressured my expansion vessel and have not been able to reduce the pressure even by removing the shrader valve. Because no air came out of it when I depressed the valve I assumed it was empty. Put my compressor on it and then realised the pressure was 70psi. Removed the shader valve again and still no air came out. Have you experienced this before?
  • @thekrang
Fitting additional expansion vessel in cupboard upstairs on a combi installation - does it need PRV on this vessel or literally just tee into the return as per your video? Thanks in advance
  • @user-sz4gh9cs5f
Quick question, do you fit expansion vessel on the return on a heating system?
