"Most of these suspects have no fear of arrest or conviction". That one sentence speaks volumes.

Why dont you show their faces and put them on spot?? They deserve to be embarrassed, not that they have any shame to begin with....
  • There's a real weakness in today's society in being able to defend yourself and your property without fear of retribution. It's really sad.

That's great news! It's reassuring to know that law enforcement is taking steps to protect our local businesses from organized retail theft. Well done!

Judges please take note, the only way to stop people from doing something is to impose negative consequences on their actions

Arresting is one thing. Punishment and jail time is another. These people are so brazen & don't worry about anything because the lack of punishment is worth the crime.

Longer sentences for retail theft , looting and etc
  • @ricjumba
Release their names and faces, family’s and friend’s names and faces. Hold them more accountable.
  • Lock these thugs away, please!!! They belong behind bars for good!

One thing that would greatly help and slow down this type of ORC would be a change in law for those buying these stolen goods. Many of the people buying these goods know that they are stolen. People buying stolen goods are a catalyst encouraging further theft of goods. This too needs to have accountability and consequences.

I could see how they got away with $1M worth of goods. They would casually walk into stores with people present and casually take what they wanted without anybody intervening. There was a time when society wouldn't have allowed that. Everyone present would have apprehended the assailants, hog-tied them, whipped them, and shamed them in public.
  • Can we see some mug shots in case other people can identify them in other robberies???
  • If these thugs walk free, it sends a message that commiting retail crime in Calif is the path to wealth building.
  • @Djsweh
The lady is so right. These crimes spill over into other things.
  • @lukasfoo
The sheriff in the video said these thugs have no fear of arrest or conviction. Isn't that very telling? It tells me that the justice system in California is screwed up that criminals know that they will be released after arrest, with no repercussions, and they go out and commit more crimes again. Law enforcement has done their job. Now the politicians, judges and prosecutors need to do their jobs!

Stiffer penalties are needed for theft, especially for repeat offenders
