The key thing to understand is that Disney does not respect you as an audience, but as a consumer.
  • To me why Andor hits infinitely harder than anything else is because all of the other shows are telling stories about Star Wars, whereas Andor is using Star Wars to tell a story about real life.

I literally paused the video at 23:40 and watched all of Andor. Here is your second view Drew. Also, Andor is probably now one of my top 10 tv shows ever.

I've never watched Andor but I need to watch it now. "I burned my decency for someone else's future. I burned my LIFE to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see" goes so fucking hard.
  • @charley2714
Honestly the worst thing about Andor is that it's forever cursed to be seen as "One of the Star Wars shows"
  • @WiloPolis03
I genuinely love how whenever Star Wars makes a spinoff of fan favorite characters, it gets mixed or even negative reviews, and whenever it's centered around side characters or subplots no one cared about, it's absolutely fire

The whole "I'm gonna surprise attack you but also scream while doing it" thing has got to be my biggest pet peeve in movies and every movie seems to do it. In what world would somebody SCREAM while trying to get the drop on someone. I can't wrap my head around that

I'm sure someone else has pointed this out, but Batman didn't save Harvey cause of what he meant to the city. He was mislead to believe he was saving Rachel. The Joker purposefully mixed up their locations so he'd save the wrong person regardless. None the less, great example cause your point was still valid.

Drew perfectly summed up my feelings about the last 10 years of popular media: "I'm just asking for what happens on screen to mean something"
  • @Im_Lazy69
I think we've had enough Star Wars I think everyone should just come together so we can finally have Star Peace
  • there's so much they could've done with Ezra. what if he was dead, and Sabine has to grapple with the fact that she let Thrawn return for nothing? what if he was in a force coma and they had to get him out whole simultaneously protecting him? what if he had been forced to kill to survive and that experience turned him bitter? what if, in order to survive, he had joined Thrawn? what if he had forgotten how to speak English? what if literally anything happened ???
  • I'm convinced the only reason why Andor is good is that the higher-ups basically went "Yeah we won't pay much attention to your show because it's a show about Andor and no one cares about it."
  • @ModishShrink
So glad that the actor from Little Italy is finally breaking out into bigger roles, good for him.
  • Drew, I just want to thank you for such high praise for Andor. I’ve spent over 2 years of my life working on this show, with the most incredible team. Hope you love season 2 as much as we’ve loved making it, cheers from across the pond 🫡
  • @aztro_naut
I haven't seen a SINGLE star wars movie and that scene and buildup shown in this video for Andor had me JUMPING. I have NO context and I'm still hyped, that's amazing writing right there.
  • @madsstokes
Oscar Isaac's face as he has to deliver that Palpatine line is tragic. 😂
  • @xbleaksquidx
Andor is a perfect example of show don't tell and how to treat your audience like they're actually intelligent
  • @shelgg5755
How many Drew Gooden videos do we really need?
  • @missamvmaker
I think what also makes Andor an interesting character is he doesn't easily fit into 'good' or 'bad'. He does messed up things and the people around him react appropriately. He also has things he deeply cares about and will work towards those goals to support those people
