Viido bluetooth speaker teardown 1

This VIIDO blue tooth speaker lasted about 1 month before it went wrong: failed to work. It's probably a battery charging issue: using a 5 volt USB mains powered charger, I could only get it up to a maximum of 70% charge and it took about 5 days to achieve that. All of the intelligent stuff is on the PCB. The red flashing LED charge indicator continued flashing for some time but when I wanted to play through it a movie soundtrack from my phone no sound came out and the blue LED, accompanied by a series of notes, indicating start up didn't happen. It is a shame these rather nice sounding and retro styling speakers don't last for a bit longer but sold as a throw away item, the planet having to take the toxic pollution load. I suggest a means of battery substitution using 3 of, AAA rechargeable NiMh cells in series but a hole, to accept a charging socket will need to be drilled into the side of the unit for charging might compromise the airtight compartment and adversely affect the sound.

Thanks for showing access. At 4.43 that battery connector is reversed compared to mine it shows battery +/- on the board , mine came back to life after hitting the battery with 4.3 volts. That round metal component is labelled as a microphone on mine maybe some versions are smart speakers

If u connect a micro usb cable in the back you can use the wire as a antenna and get the radio to work

so pleased you done this i so wanted to look inside this things.. a note on this things, it has the ability to pair it with 2 of these speakers which you would naturally think it would play in stereo but it dosen't ok it still just mono.. but these are good little speakers for what they are.. thank you for the video so pleased someone did one :)
  • I managed to get one for £2 in Poundland. The box was damaged and the charging lead was missing, hence the price. For something so small I'm impressed 👍

Hi, it's just come down from £6 to £5 at poundland. I considered fitting an aerial but it's just good as a bluetooth speaker, very good really. I don't really need more radios, currently building a retro one in a wooden enclosure. This was handy for the access to it, thanks. I suspected the rear was a pressed fit ! : )

To test if it still works, try it plugged into the USB charger, it should work from the USB 5v power supply, even if batt has died.
