  • I have been a horse person for 40 years. Don't break the herd unless it is necessary for safety reasons. Have a plan ready but take it one day at a time. Everything is calm now, but that may change when baby is born. You will have to wait and see how all horses react-waiting is hard, but have a plan A, Plan B, etc. You should definitely have a spot for Storm and her baby to feel safe it that is needed, but where Storm and Rita and the herd can see each other (across the fence or a sectioned off pen area. Have plans ready and wait calmly. Have faith and confidence that it will all work out. You are a smart woman.
  • This looks to me like a family in the waiting room of a hospital waiting the arrival of a newborn baby. This brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the love and support Stormi is getting

She is so at peace she can deep sleep stretched out on the ground.i think that looks like a good place to have a baby. How protected she must feel with the boys and pony looking after her. That’s so beautiful.
  • This is the most amazing picture they are all there with Storm protecting her.❤❤🙏🏻
  • As a former rancher and many horses owner..Storm is a major part of this herd. The horses sense birth coming. Rita and Storm are a strong bond. Storm will protect her foal. And Rita will bond with that foal. The herd will too. You may have to intervene if needed. Otherwise let her foal. Imo. Trust your gut Jami.
  • The fact is mares give birth within a herd all the time. If Rita steps out of line, Storm will tell her off.
  • Voo, Buc-ees & Ivy are guarding Storm. They know instinctively that Storm is going to give birth soon. God bless them! 🥰❤
  • Watching them stand over Storm and even Rita the boys are protective over there sister's. What a blessing it is to see the love they have for one another ❤️ 🙏
  • That little foal is so very lucky to be born into a loving, protective herd. Leave them be. ♥️🌸
  • The way Voo took care of Dixie ...I'm sure he'll protect Storm and the baby.
  • I love how the boys and the 'pony' are being their protectors while the girls sleep.
  • Jamie I remember when the donkeys had foals. They protected the young. Those boys just watched and stayed outa the way,So I would leave be. I even remember seeing one feeding and trying to steal a baby. They were entertaining daily.Set up the ring for after the birth, togetherness bonding or labor pen if you catch in time. Family is comfortable who doesn’t want comfy before birth? As for after ; Stormy is boss
  • I think I would just leave stormy there. Those other three horses are her family and her protectors. Even Rita will realize a baby as a baby. This is now where she’s comfortable for the time being and who she’s comfortable with.
  • They know what they are doing, they've been doing this in the wild for years. Only intervene if absolutely necessary. I've been around horses for over 67 years, they all know what's about to happen and are preparing for the new arrival. ❤
  • @kima.7148
They almost looked like a manger scene. Peaceful and serene. Prayers for safe delivery! All will be fine. Mother Nature is amazing. Part of this will help Rita mature as well. Love the way they are all standing near — even the donkey! 💗🙏🏻💗
  • Jami, you already got your answer with what you saw and witnessed first hand with this herd. And the answer was powerful.
  • I love how her family is watching over her. Voodoo and Buckee are her guards, and Rita is her comfort.
  • @Purserworld30
Just let them be a herd. She doesn't seem stressed, she seems like she's exactly where she wants to be
  • @marciaborg77
Love the video of Rita and Storm, laying down sleeping, and the boy's looking over them.❤❤❤
  • Horse is no different than a cow she will protect her own. Sometimes people get in their own way and not for the better. 😢
