Of all Mary's relationships, I think my favourite is one that isn't even a romance, and that's the bond that she and Tom share. I really love how close they get, especially after she loses Matthew. They develop this beautiful friendship and a sibling-like closeness that's just so nice to watch.

I think you either love or hate the character of Mary. I personally adore her, because, as Michelle Dockery so brilliantly explained, she began the series as this mean unlikeable rich girl but then as the show progresses you can see so many more facets to her personality, some better, some worst. She's done so much growth in the span of six seasons, always taking in mind though that "growth" does not mean perfection. Mary is a flawed character and I think that's what's so alluring about her, that just like like Thomas Barrow she can be mean spirited and she often finds herself in troubles of her own making, but she's in no way evil or irredimable ; she can be very caring to the people she loves, she is resourceful and so remarkably strong. Love or hate her, you can't deny that Mary Crawley is a masterfully constructed character and so very thrilling to watch.

I like her character because she's not a naturally "likable" character if that makes sense. It's so nice to see a protagonist be portrayed with both negative and positive traits. Yes, she's a flawed character, but she has distinct individuality.

One of the many things I like about Michelle Dockery's view on Mary is that she isn't blind to Mary's faults. I've seen quite a few actors who play mean characters, but insist that the character actually isn't mean, despite evidence to the contrary. Michelle is under no delusions about Mary, yet that doesn't stop her from liking the character. Which only adds to her portrayal.

When casting gets it right... Casting gets it right. Michelle Dockerty is the only person to ever portrait Lady Mary Crawley. She's able to show the great depth in the character. She can play opposite Legends like Maggie Smith and Shirley McClain with this ease and magnitude. That is why Lady Mary is this Hate to Love; Love to Hate character.

Michelle Dockery is obviously beautiful, but I especially love the rich tone quality of her voice combined with her exquisite diction and pronunciation. She's the complete package and I can't keep my eyes off of her whenever she's on the screen.

I love the secen where lady Mary says to Rita that she's not the first person to blackmail her. And the way she turns away how her facial expression, changed. Such a brilliant actress.

I still cried on how Matthew's Death still haunts Mary, it's just so heartbreaking that Dan Stevens decide to leave the show.

I loved that scene between Tom and Mary at 13:49 because I felt like it had an uncanny echo to reality. Michelle Dockery’s fiancé passed away during the filming of the series, and she’s mentioned how his death made her understand Mary better in later series. If I recall correctly it was also Allen Leech (or at least one of the cast) who’d introduced them in the first place. Either way, it was a heartfelt, beautifully written and acted scene.

"They're the Ross and Rachel of period drama." Ha ha ha ha

Michelle Dockery is the best crier ever, especially that silent cry. Every single time she cries in this series, I cry, too, because it’s so real. Wow.

To play a character like Mary who at times is so unlikeable and yet make her endearing is such a task and Michelle has done a fantastic job.

Michelle, you’re such a strong woman. To have to play Mary so we’ll while you were going through a real life tragedy, I can’t imagine the courage that takes. I hope that you have found happiness like Mary did <3

Michelle deserves more commendation and recognition… what a great actress

I don't like it how people say she was awful in the beginning. Even in the first episode you can see how bad she feels snooping in the servants' quarters, and apologises right away. And as for Edith, she gives as good as she gets so I think ppl feel sorry for Edith as she is rather unfortunate. Mary is deep and mysterious, one of my all time favourite characters.

I always loved Mary from the start I could see a pain in her eye, Michelle is an amazing actress!!! Matthew was perfect for her! He always brought out the best. It was tragic when he died, I’m sorry but the new husband does not compare.
