I always had a feeling it would work, but I was never brave enough to try it. Today, I have become Japanese. I am using White Yoshi in honor of my competitive mario kart teammate and international sweet heart: ZZ (super neet). Yoshi Teddy is the ideal try-hard combo for my strategy.

“See why Mario Kart doctors HATE him” also I had no idea it was you lol. Whenever I see imposters I always check for Canadian flags.
  • Thanks Shortcat! After learning this one trick, hot Yoshi’s with Teddy Buggies within 5 miles of my area want to meet up!

For those curious about why Japanese players are so good, it's because the competitive community is massive here. Once you explore the Japanese side of YouTube, you'll instantly notice how seriously Japanese people take this game. With numerous tutorials and livestreams uploaded daily by various Mario Kart content creators, it's no surprise that they have a significant advantage.

The mini turbo and speed stats are important, but it’s actually the Japanese stat that’ll help you the most
  • @ohgeeshcaro
The only way to beat the lag is to join the lag.
  • Hi Shortcat! I’m Japanese and now I watch ur videos everyday since I came Canada to study English about a month ago. One of the reasons I watch your videos is u speak very clearly and I can easily understand ur English. And of course, I learn some Mariokart skills, and actually I appreciate that u never get angry…😮 Thank you for playing with us, Shortcat!

japanese person here! I love to watch these videos and try to improve my mariokart! don't worry, we like being called really good at the game even when some of us definitely aren't... loved this video, thank you ショートキャット!

Changing your flag to Japan unlocks the secret Kusaan stat
  • So glad this channel blew up. It's hard to say you're my "favorite" MK content because you're really the only one that's ever been appealing enough for me to care.
  • @landonmeyer3232
POV: you’re bad at MK8 Me: “Man, I really stink at Mario Kart” Japan: “HERE IS INSTANT SKILL”
  • @Mage_Nichlas_
Man this gameplay is amazing. No idea what the guy is saying but maybe some English subtitles can be added by the editor soon.
  • @Chokominuts
Shortcat is that type of friend that'll lose a match and congrats you on your win. I love this guy!

Hi,Shortcat I'm Japanese and living in Japan my entire life. I don't take your comments as offensive, you're so respectful and funny. Japanese are good at this game for sure but some are too competitive and serious. I feel comfortable watching your video cuz I can tell you really like this game, character and everything even though inevitable things get you to the low place haha. you know how to play and have fun with Mariokart that makes me keep watching your channel. you're rock

Japanese person here, Hi Shortcat! I only recently started watching your channel but its safe to say I've been getting a lot better at the game! For the lag, I do think I experience less lag compared to what I see in your videos, item trailing is a bit easier to dodge and there's less random stuff going on. Keep entertaining the masses! Thank you Shortcat :)

Hey, I’m Japanese and I’ve been watching your videos! Even though I don’t own or play Mario Kart, your videos have been showing up in my recommended feed, and I’ve been binge-watching them. Now, I’m actually tempted to buy Mario Kart because of you! 😂

another trick is to live in New Zealand, since the timezone is ahead of Japan, your ping will be negative and you will be ahead of their time instead of lagging behind.

"I'm like a Ness player in Super Smash Bros: Just hitting ghosts." As a Ness main, yeah, that sounds about right lol
  • @Gnawy
