Strangers Offer Stranded Sergeant A Ride Home To See His Son’s Birth!

Published 2020-05-22
When Sgt. Seth Craven's connecting flight back home to West Virginia was canceled, he was beside himself over the idea of missing his wife Julie's scheduled cesarean section and the birth of his first child. That's when a stranger at the airport named Charlene jumped in to help, offering the National Guard sergeant a ride in her car. After an 8-hour drive, Sgt. Craven made it just a few hours before his son Cooper was born. Kelly chats with the happy mom and dad, then surprises them by bringing out Charlene to meet Julie and Cooper for the first time.

I think it was during desert storm but I was about to board my plane when I saw a service man with his large duffel bag at the counter begging to get on the plane but it was full. I wasn't in a big rush to get home so I went up to the counter and I asked did I hear right that you have to get on this flight? He said yes. He only has about 3 days of leave before he has to go over seas. If he doesn't make this flight he'll miss his connection in Chicago and will lose time with his family. The ticket lady allowed me to give him my seat and put me on the next flight no charge. He thanked me again and again. I told him it was the least I could do for his service. Never did get his name nor him mine. If my brother, father, sister, etc., were in the same boat I would hope someone would help them out like I did. Ty Charlene for you helping out this family.

Did you see his eyes and face light up just when he was looking at his son??!! Beautiful!! Beautiful family, beautiful Angel and family!!!

OMG!!!! I am absolutely bawling right now. What a beautiful person inside and out to be so selfless to get a military daddy home to be with his wife and new baby. I am an Army mom and my son and daughter in law just had their first child, my first grandchild. I would have moved heaven and earth for my son to be there for the birth of his daughter, but, unfortunately, he couldn't make it home to them. He won't get to see her until she's 3 months old. All of both of their families are in California and they are stationed in North Carolina. Fortunately I was able to go out for the birth and her first month, but I wish my son could have been there. Bless this serviceman and for this wonderful angel for getting him home. ❤❤❤

I was getting on a plane on my two week leave. I had a seat in the back of the plane but honestly I could have been in the cargo of the plane would have been fine with me. A guy in first class came and told me to take his seat not asked! I was like I can’t do this you paid for that but he insisted.
