Pakistani Police Bust Me... Eating Fish! (A Warning for Tourists)

Can't a man just vlog and eat fish in peace in Pakistan? While eating in the Sikh holy city of Nankana Sahib, an unidentified security service agent finds me in a restaurant and reports me to the local Police station. Then a Punjab police officer sits next to me and forces me to ride back to my hotel with him.

According to that Punjab police officer, the protection of foreign tourists is their responsibility. However, I don't think there's any rule like that in Nankana Sahib. The only places that require you to travel with a security guard in Pakistan are, as far as I know, southern Punjab (below Multan) and Balochistan.

If you're going to Nankana Sahib, read my travel guide blog.karlrock.com/nankana-sahib-travel-super-guide….

  • I can imagine how difficult it maybe to decide if they are genuine or fake this police guy really seemed genuine and kind to keep you safe have a good weekend.

It's nice to see they're actually looking out for you. The locals know things foreigners don't know and can't see. I think someone saved your life

Sounds like an off-duty police officer saw you and was concerned for your safety. Nice to see people in this country (at least where you were located) actually care about the safety of foreigners.

Hello karl, I'm from Pakistan, if someone approach you and identity himself from security you can ask his card directly. They are there to keep you safe. They must be from IB (Intelligence branch) / CID ( Central Intelligence Department) / MID (military Intelligence Department) etc. For the foreigner its not advisable to go rounding alone at night. He was really concerned only. Ravi Fish is the famous resto for fish in pakistan. Hope you enjoy your trip. God bless you
  • i don't know why pewdiepie is so relaxed even when strangers keep telling him that the place is not safe.

The police officer really dealt with the situation well. He was respectful and insisted politely. Actually makes me happy that our neighbour country is doing its best to ensure security of the travellers. Its rare to see in our subcontinent.

If a local police officer tells you that the area is so dangerous for you that you need protection, say "thank you" and accept their help. You have no idea how much danger you could be in as you are a foreigner.

Probably one of the most authentic traveller videos I have seen in a long time.

Reading people and situations in a completely different culture isn't always easy. The first security guy was worried and told the cop, the cop then decided it was necessary to come find you and escort you to your hotel. Two locals were concerned for your safety so maybe there was a very good reason for this?
  • The police are much nicer than Australian police. He was truly offering a public service, well done to Pakistani police . Peace from Australia 🇦🇺✌🏼🌏

I'm glad Karl makes these videos so I can see these places. I'd definitely NEVER go there in person, so these videos are fantastic.

Our country has many people like Karl - we usually find out about them when it makes the news that the Home Office or visiting Prime Minister is asking their counterpart to help in their release. I'm glad he eventually listened to the police officer and not his own misinformed belief in his own appreciation of the situation. Stay safe Karl.

Karl I am a pakistani and if a police officer to u (foreigner) this means that the place is not safe and they want to keep u safe Edit:thanks for liking the comment
  • As a Pakistani Karl, I need to let you know, you can pretty much identify if the guy is telling you the truth or not by their inflections. This guy was genuinely concerned for your well being. The fact that he thought it hilarious when you said the place is safe proves that he was genuinely concerned. The hotel owner/staff also knew the guy well enough to offer him Sprite as well. While Pakistan is for the most part a beautiful country, like any other country we too have our rotten apples. This guy was there to keep them as far away from you as possible. A foreigner roaming alone at night that too in a small town. Word wouldn't travel fast if anything were to happen. by the way if you decide to come to Karachi, do let me know, I'll mail you my contact to make sure you are able to vlog with ease.
  • @NeilHaran
Sometimes you don't know you're in a dangerous area, until it is too late. These are dangerous times, but this was indeed a tough situation, glad the police was kind and was looking out for you.
  • @safetybuddy
Thank you for this inspirational and reassuring video. The Sikh people are truly good people. I have a lot of respect for them and their culture. That Fish looked delicious. I would like to thank the people that were concerned for your safety and took steps to protect you. Please keep making your content I am a fan.
  • @Xavierpng
It seems that these people really cared about your well being. Good on them for going out of their way for a stranger and making sure nothing bad happened to you
  • @JourneysADRIFT
Honestly. Amazed. The officer was very polite. He didn't tell you to stop filming. What to film. He didn't delete your footage. He honestly seemed more like he was truly there for your safety.
  • @p8ryot
There may have been very recent robberies or scams towards foreigners, I can appreciate the local police being at the ready to ensure foreigners have a pleasant experience in their district hindering a bad incident that could bring bad publicity to their town and country.
