You could see Saoirse tense up like, "Get your fucking hand off my back, Gere".

John Malkovich speaks at a negative speed, I love him

The applause Richard Gere got was...well, let's just say that I somewhat respect him for his artistry but John Malkovich is so ridiculously talented and completely understated, bringing a level of such emotional depth (or lack thereof) to his characters that it's surprising neither the crowd, nor Graham focused on his achievements more than they actually did. Not to mention he has an amazingly intriguing voice.

just fucking love Malkovich, I really like that slow talking, you do really focus on what he's saying
  • Just came here to watch Taylor's performance but realized how much people hate Richard Gere in this comment section!!! 😂

The moment I saw Gere just start randomly petting Saoirse I went straight to the comments to see if anyone else noticed, like seriously?? why do you have to pet and graze her arm?

I think Richard was being deliberately rude about the questions cause grahams people are such good researchers, they always nail it! Also, the crowd thing at the beginning was so narcisist and desperate.

Wow, two acting legends....... and Richard Gere.

Malkovich is like fifty kinds of chill, i can't believe it
  • That Tifany doesn't deserve that much of introducing and applause over the great Malkovic and the lovely Saoirse Ronan

kudos to the way Graham handled the bit when he Mr. Gere was totally shooting all his questions down. That takes some mad skills too make a douch guest seem nice. Plus he was totally all over Saoirse! dafuq? CREEP!
  • That narcissistic sleaze, Gere, was pissing me right off with his, "What are you talking about?!" and Saoirse's body language toward him was clearly justified! Also, I like that Taylor noticed his lecherous eyes all over her and so brought his wife into the conversation at the first opportunity!

I had a pleasure to work with Mr. Malkovich, and he is the kindest person ever. Very funny and literate.

I want a movie with John Malkovich, Jeff Goldblum and Christopher Walken... just so I can hear them talk to each other with their distinct cadences

The way Graham would be able to manage this situation and his emotions is amazing.
  • @Hangie
Saoirse is an awesome actor... but even she couldn't 'act' un-grossed out by Richard Gere creeping.
  • @mrlister2000
And after this, Gere was never invited back to the show
  • @Thothali
Never figured Gere for someone who’d be so full of himself. From walking in in that slow motion to walking into the audience to cosying up in the lap of a woman - even if she was delighted to have him in her lap - to petting the Saoirse to making the whole show about himself - when there is a far more accomplished actor sitting on the same sofa, and when he is the only one who is not an Oscar nominee on that sofa - it’s just one big disappointment watching this man. I don’t think Nights in Rodanthe will ever be the same. Oh well, it will be. There’s Diane Lane in it.
  • Saoirse is so done with being touched by the creepy old man that she tries to get Taylor to come sit next to her. She's got as much room as possible between her and him. All these people in the comments saying no such thing happened: So every single one of us that independently saw it, was revolted, and then came to the comments to discuss it... we're the ones that are blind?
