  • It wasn't until Mandalore's video on Arcanum, that I realized Sseth's unbridled bigotry towards gnomes in Arcanum... is absolutely justified

"in no particular order" proceeds to list the races in a very particular order

necromancer Kerghan: "Life is an anomaly that ushers nothing but suffering. I plan to end it all, end all life, so that noone needs suffer anymore" charisma protagonist: "Yeah, well, that's, like, your opinion, man." Necromancer Kerghan: "Fair point. Kill me please."

The Critical failure mechanic gave me one of the funniest moments I've ever played. (spoilers for a minor side quest). A farmer asked me to find out what has been killing his rabbits and it becomes quite obvious that his daughter is a werewolf. Naturally I waited til night and what do you know, I was right. She changed and started attacking a rabbit. Unfortunately for her, she made a critical failure which used up all of her fatigue and she fainted. The rabbit was still fighting back though and I realised what was going to happen. I literally had to kill a bunny to save the life of werewolf.

Honestly if healing magic was real I'd also kinda consider medicine barbaric

I always assumed the whole "product of rape" thing was just ssseth being ssseth, but then I played the game and read the race descriptions and soon realised he wasn't fucking lying.

Before playing Arcanum: Sseeth is just memeing against the Gnomes, very funny but kinda extreme After playing Arcanum: The most tragic part of this game is that there is a canonical peaceful afterlife and the knowledge that dead Gnomes are not suffering in the darkest pit of hell
  • My friend's favorite part of the game was mind controlling bears or wolves, moving them into an NPC's house, mage locking the doors closed, and then restoring the animal's free will. This is neither murder or otherwise illegal.

me before playing arcanum: why does sseth hate gnomes so much? Surely they can't all be bad me after playing arcanum: genociding all gnomes would be completely justifiable

Isolated incidents are part and parcel of living in a big city

    >Half-Ogres: Products of systemic rape >Shows a gnome Fuck, it took me too long to realize that one
  • This game had one of the most broken abilities I've ever encountered. Turn Based, spec in Backstabs and Time Magic, and use the Dagger Of Speed which only costs 1 action point per attack. Once at full Dex you have 70 to 75 action points available. You can run into a room, stab 30 people in the spine, and run out again before anyone else gets a single turn. From their perspective, nothing was happening then suddenly everyone in the room spontaneously exploded.

One of my favourite things in Arcanum was this: it's an early game spoiler so if you want to play the game maybe don't read it, althought it's unlikely that you will see it on your playthrough anyway. I chose an orc as my character, but gave him a little bit of intelligence. My friend also chose an orc, but the background he chose was something like "circus orc", giving him a big int malus. One of the first characters you encounter is your friend Virgil, so I talked with my friend about the game a bit and our progress and it was something like: what did you do after Virgil said this and that? He said: Who is Virgil? The main characters friend of course. Oh, you must mean Wiggel, I was like wtf. I thought my friend was a bit retarded, but it turns out if you have a character with very low int, he can not even pronounce the names of the people he encounters correctly. Small things like this really help the storytelling and they are what a "role playing" game should be about.
  • The scariest thing of the year 2022 is having Mandalore essentially confirm every ridiculous thing Sseth claims is in this game.
  • @ar1i_k
I thought Sseth was joking about gnomes and half-ogres After Mandalore's video I see, he was just trying to warn us
  • @Dartigan
I demand you post the banana bread recipe.

"HE IS WORSE THAN A GNOME, HE IS MAY GORK FORGIVE ME FOR UTTERING THIS WORD, AN ELF" -WAAAARGG tv

The gnome is immunized against all dangers: one may call it a scoundrel, parasite, swindler, profiteer, it all runs off it like water off a raincoat. But call it a gnome and you will be astonished at how it recoils, how injured it is, how it suddenly shrinks back: "I've been found out."
