Season 02 : Deep South
Episode 05 : Rosewood : Rosewood, FL

People have attachments to the places they live. Some people have lived in the same places their entire lives and that community is all they know. Others have moved around but have a longing to return to the community where they grew up. Our communities are places that comfort us through familiarity and family. Sometimes though, the community becomes a battlefield.

To this day my parents have large paintings of Sarah and Sylvester in their living room. True American history Icons.
  • There’s a movie on this we used to watch in school called Rosewood. It’s worth a watch. My classmates great grandmother was the last remaining survivor. She recently passed.
  • I'm happy to hear that some people retained their human nature by helping despite endangering themselves
  • Good job on getting this out in the open. I'm so happy that the families got some compensation, even though it was not close to enough. Love the series! Thank you...πŸ™πŸ™ŒπŸ˜ŽπŸ€©πŸ€Ÿ

Basically the same or similar has happened in Ocoee, FL, Tulsa, Wilmington and many many more prosperous Black towns across america. Thank you for telling this story.

Incredibly horrific Florida does not want this history taught in their schools. I cannot say with confidence this horror will not repeat itself.
  • At first I thought Rosewood was a malapropism for Greenwood because much of what happened is so similar. The fact that this story could even be confused with a separate incident is infinitely sadder.

As a Floridian myself. I'm ashamed that this happened regularly 😒. As a caring human being. This is beyond heartbreaking that people are truly MONSTERSπŸ˜’πŸ’”

I'm "liking" this piece to encourage you to tell the stories and in acknowledgement for your commitment of telling them.

I must say Rosewood was the most unnerving movie I have ever seen pure terror I would not even watch Django.

This is so horrific, I am near tears. I weep that we haven't gained much ground in our humanity in over a century!
