  • We are first time home buyers and our 1929 home has no central ac. We are using one of these on each floor and keeps things comfortable! This video was super helpful for installing! We probably would get window units going forward but I do love these!!

I LOVE my portable B&D unit. It keeps a 650 sq room very cold. And yes I would put a wall unit in if I had widows for it on this room . I love this unit!!!

I have an LG. Had it almost 10 years. Works great. Takes up about a 1foot x 1 foot space. Easy to install. Almost 0 maintenance and no heavy lifting to get it in a window. I am handicapped so this works great.
  • I have one of these and I've also had a window unit. I like this much better than the window unit. It cools a lot better.

Good unbiased comments... Of course a pro for the portable unit is that it`s portable . I would create a window attachment for another room like a bedroom at night so it would be easy to move the unit to another room as needed.
  • Mine is a Lexent. It cools my bedroom in about half an hour. It drops it at least 10-12 degrees. Absolutely love it.

I wish I had found your video sooner! I bought an LG 6000, but your instructions are better for my unit than what I found from LG. Your adapters look just like mine. I found the hardest part was threading the adapters onto the flexible hose at both ends. I really wanted to watch someone do this, and that is what I value the most about your video, but it is all excellent. I'm a 68-year-old woman, so lifting a window style A/C in and out for the seasons was not an option for me. The LG I bought does come with security latches. I loved what you did with the foam insulation. My central air outside fan stopped spinning, so I replaced the capacitor, but that did not fix it, so this was an affordable alternative. It will be nice to have a backup, even after I get the central air fixed. Thanks for this! Great job!

I've had one of these in my garage for two years, a garage with no windows. I bought it used and it works great. Recently when the AC in the camper broke down I put this in it temporarily and it worked great. I love these things, especially for spaces with either no windows or no "traditional" windows. I recently bought a second one.
  • I like the 12000btu window ones by GE or Fridgidaire. Those things are heavy but like you said all of the heat is all on the outside of the window. I have a Portable Toshiba 12000 btu AC unit that i just bought and it works great as of right now. Gets the room from 80 or maybe 81 all the way down to 70. Next year i will probably buy a window AC unit like i previously mentioned. A 12000btu window AC unit would turn my room into a fridge which would be great👍

This is awesome video, thank you this is a great explanation. I'm a new homeowner and had no idea how to do it. Thanks

Toshiba makes one identical to that but the tube you do not have to thread in its already got a ring attachment that Clips on to the attachment that Clips onto the air conditioner and when you want to take it down or out it dismantles very quick and easy by just pushing on the clips with a hose connection in hose dismantles everything comes off and you can put it up for the season and comes with remote timer sleep mode and you can't angle your vent electronically with the remote or why it runs it remotely goes back and forth on its own so it's not just facing the one direct Direction it goes up and down towards the ceiling back towards waist level so you can either have it on one set angle or you can let it run on its own and it blows back and forth from the ceiling all the way down to waist level check it out it's a really good machine

The purpose of the portable ac is for you to move it where you need it. So if you want an ac that sits in just one place then get a diff unit
  • @nightforest666
Excellent video. Very much appreciated. Love the foam tip. Thank you so much.
  • We purchased the exact same unit here for out bedroom in SoCal (Anaheim). Have had it for three years and it’s worked quite well on all but, this most recent heatwave in 2022. I concur with the cons but, in our circumstances I’d be willing to purchase it again.

Love the window exit for the hot air, a good place to enter the house if you forget your keys!!
  • I have one just like this. Got 2 months ago and I love it. Thank you!

Those units also create a draft on your home since they only have an out hose, this draft will constantly being in warm moist outside air into the house/structure.
