  • "it actively rewards your mastery of the game's fundamental mechanics: running, thinking, shooting, and living"
  • A casali made crossfire? I can't say I'm surprised, It's an amazingly made map, his map design came a long way since the masterpiece that is plutonia

I vaguely recall hopping on a server in HL1 that was running a version of Crossfire that restored the hidden room with the crossbow in it, but only made it accessible by interacting with a certain wall, which sank into the floor like a hidden door, and closed after a few seconds. I found like 4 people hitting the wall with their crowbars in there. Good times
  • I’d ADORE if you would make a video on the rest of half life death match, it’s often over shadowed by the base game, and I think it needs more love…

I have so many fond memories of playing this instead of paying attention to classes in the computer lab, almost 2 decades after release because the computers were that bad. Whenever someone activated the air strike, the other players would make them the priority for the rest of the match, to "teach" them a lesson of course.
  • Crossfire was the map that brought me to the half-life universe when I was 10 and now I'm almost 30, thank you for bringing back those memories.

Half-Life multiplayer was my first introduction to the game, my mind was blown when I first saw that this is actually a single player game, lol. Would definitely like to see the rest of maps, stalkyard, bounce were also fun to play
  • hldm is genuinely so much fun i wish there was a bigger playerbase for it
  • Also, the Barneys you can find on the landing pad half of the map have also been speculated to be a remnant of the game's cut co-op mode, which would have allowed you to play co-op missions on deathmatch maps. A good example of this is the unused entities on Subtransit which include HECU grunts and a script for them ambushing you near the rocket launcher pickup. Edit: Just remembered that Marphy has a good video on this. https://youtu.be/T23wINs35lU
  • Removing the Airstrike just feels wrong, it's a relic from a time when games cared more about the chaotic fun of early shooters rather than if it's fair and balanced, I mean hell if you're going to remove it instead just give it a longer wind up time or something, there's no harm in demanding every player get into the only safe spot on the map for that same chaotic fun in a different flavour or crammed nonsense after all :b
  • Your channel is a constant source of enjoyment in my life. Thank you.
  • @sionrouse
The skybox glitch is because the original map didn’t specify one. If you don’t, it’ll default to the ‘desert’ sky or whatever it was from the previous map. You can see this on a few other maps

This has gotta be one of your best vids yet. Your editing and scripting skills have increased by a lot.

just catching this in my recommended videos now, really interesting watch! when making maps for dusk's multiplayer mode, duskworld, i used the main battle area of crossfire as the inspiration for the initial structure of fusillade (fusillade even meaning "a discharge from a number of firearms", which could be interpreted as "crossfire" 😅) but one part of the original map i swear i didn't know about was the spiral staircase containing the crossbow, even though i made the same sort of structure in nearly the same location! i guess it was destined to be a playable feature in at least one form of the map lmao
  • @CraftyCopy
Fantastic video, also that black mesa xen joke will never get old
  • There's also a custom Call of Duty World at War zombie map that's a direct port of the HL:DM map Crossfire.
  • @abildamil
I love how I was playing with ya on the other day and when I clicked on the video I immediately noticed that Crossfire is also on Open Fortress
  • @Woody_888
Your videos are always so fun to watch.

HLDM in crossfire feels like a never ending bar fight. That's the reason why I love HLDM
