A powerful film showing the true plight of victims forced into marriage. With unprecedented access to the Manchester Police Force, this documentary investigates the biggest cases of forced marriage in the UK. In June 2014 it became illegal for someone to force a person to get married, the problem is how difficult this is to police to track and investigate these cases.

"You can hit your wife", but not your daughter? All wives are someones daughter.

For a Muslim girl to go to the police to report her family ... it’s deep ... believe what she says... it took a lot of courage

The dad in the beginning at the police station says he told his daughter "I will not beat you this time", why don't they ask questions about that?

When I was 15 there was a family in Bangladesh that desperately wanted me to marry their eldest son who was 12 years older than me coz they wanted me to bring him to london. They wore harassing my parents to take me to Bangladesh and get me married. Nobody asked me if I wanted to get married and I never even met him. 6 months before the wedding I ran away

"...He's chasing her with a hammer?" "Yes." "How do you know it's his daughter?" Does it fucking matter? He's chasing her with a hammer

They talk about respect but don’t respect their daughters.

Roxanna is such a level headed girl, she’s heart broken that her family have disowned her but knows that she’s better off away from them. I really hope she’s doing well in life .
  • Can we talk about how brave and amazing Sajidaa is for leaving her husband and protecting her children? The amount of courage that needs in any culture is a lot. In this sort of a culture it seems almost impossible. I hope her and her children have a good life and future

Forced marriages should be illegal everywhere. Neither women nor men should be forced to be married against their will simply because their families want it, no matter the reason.
  • Arranged/forced marriage should be classified as human trafficking. What's the difference between a pimp or trafficker selling a human being in exchange for money or property?

If these people want to come and live in England they have to abide by the laws. I know they are probably pissed that the government is meddling in their affairs but I’m so glad that there are laws and people working to prevent this cruelty.

" this kids always had this dream that he'll come from Pakistan to England to have a better life, but it's never gunna happen cuz I'm never gunna marry him!" lol yes!! gurl!

Roxanna is such an honourable, self strong, independent woman. Her parents should be proud of the young woman they have raised instead of passing her off to be another man's property.

If this happens in England, I wonder how many girls are suffering from all this, in Pakistan. ☹️
  • "You can beat wives but not daughters" and somehow he thinks he is okay to say this inside a police station 🤡🤡🤡

I am a male victim of this crime but us males are not highlighted. My life was ruined; I was 17 in 1994 when they pretended to take me on a holiday to Pakistan; once there they took away my passport and said to me "you ain't returning until you marry this thing and get her pregnant" . I was in a remote village without money or means of contact. The police ignored me there. I was used as a bridge by my parents and dad's sister to help her daughter to climb in the UK over my happiness. Can you put someone else's happiness over your sons happiness. If I could, I would love for her British citizenship to be revoked and see her returned to Pakistan and banned from coming to the UK. I hate her with passion. The funny things is this documentary totally ignored that it happens to young men. Probably not as much, but it does happen. I am a successful and happy man but this haunts me at times and humiliates me to my core.

When you see a house with locks on the internal doors you will find a controlling lunatic.

Forced Marriage = Trafficking your own children. These "parents" are awful people. My incubator did the same thing to me. Fast forward 30 years and she can't seem to figure out why I want nothing to do with her. The narcissist is always the perpetual victim. While the survivor knows better. 😑 The US could sure use a force like this.

When she said "he is still my dad." They are not thinking you are your their daughter when they are getting your brothers, male cousins and uncles to beat you to death
