When Gary Grimm had a massive heart attack, the inmates he was guarding broke out of their holding cell to help him. His eyes still well up each time he thinks about it.

He's probably the type of guard that treats inmates like people which they respect
  • Like Larry lawton says: "I don't believe in bad people, I believe in bad choices". Not everyone behind bars are bad
  • He’s prolly one of those rare prison guards that asks his inmates how there day was and treats them with the utmost respect….kindness goes a long way. You never know who your act of kindness is affecting….

    You’re a bad guy, but that doesn’t mean you’re a BAD guy.
  • “They looked at me like a human being,” thats powerful.

This video is a great lesson about stigma. People go to jail for all different reasons, and have way more difficult lives than most of you could imagine
  • There are plenty of inmates like this. I worked in a prison for nearly ten years and saw both the worst of humanity and the best. Most of them are decent guys who have made an error in judgement or were having a bad day and lashed out. They're not bad people (in most cases). A small gesture such as an inmate seeking me out to apologise for ignoring me when I had greeted him good morning earlier that day, is a good measure of someone's true character.

Thinking about how these inmates probably won’t ever know about this video.
  • He’s just there to do a job, he’s not the one that put them there, he seems like he treated them with respect so respect was given

I bet you there was that one guy who wanted to escape but the others weren’t with him 😂

We allways hear about the bad relationsship between inmates and guards.. this should have more time in media.
  • Why is this shocking just cause there in Jail doesn’t mean there evil they just made bad choices
  • Key phrase “they looked at me as a human being,” Inmates should be treated as such, inmates are not animals.
  • These inmates are exactly what’s right with the world today. Props and respect to all the inmates involved in this life saving act!
  • If he was a guard that abused his position, then they probably would have ignored him, so, he had to have done something right for them to react like that.
  • When people think of inmates they think of the extremes of crimes. Most of them are just regular people going through tough times.
  • These people are a perfect example of the saying, “they’re good people that just made bad decisions.”
  • You know that guard respects all those hommies, and he got the respect back.

Prisoners are still human beings. They may have messed up... and they are doing their time for that. But at the end of the day they still have human compassion and when another person is dying in front of them they do something. That shows that they are still human inside.
