Stu Zender is the reason I ever picked up a bass. Legend.
  • @8Junio76
I’m a metal guy who plays bass in a death metal band, but I loooove Jamiroquai. The funky jazz bass is awesome!
  • @chrishexx3360
Just Another Story definitely needed to be on this list. What a monster track that is. Jamiroquai deserves a part 2, so many bassy bangers from all the bassists involved.
  • @osmiv6663
Paul Turner is a beast but goddam Stuart Zender is a force of nature.
  • @thomaswrobel2348
SPACE COWBOY!!! They have soooo many disgustingly amazing bass lines. Tightest rhythm section around. Huge influence and just such a cool band. Thanks for highlighting them!
  • @julianpratt9616
Zender was with the band for 5 years from 1993 to 1998 - Paul Turner has been with them since 2005, so 19 years to date and what a mighty spectacular job he has done. Always keeps Stuart and Nick "under his hands" but respectfully adds his own groove! Paul Turner deserves a review of his own!

Stu Zender (along with Flea) is the main reason I started playing bass, and Paul Turner is incredible, but I've always felt that Nick Fyffe's work with them was/is massively under appreciated. Every musician who's ever played in Jamiroquai has been absolutely top tier.

I used to work in a music shop in Manchester and got the chance to spend a little time with Stu Zender when he came in for some kit. Very cool guy - sold him a Fender MIJ Bass VI and a fretless acoustic 5 string too
  • This puts a big smile on my face. There are so many Jamiroquai songs with killer bass lines, you could do a follow up video, just saying...
  • @garett-san4066
1997 Buenos Aires - Argentina - 13 year old me was gifted a bass from dad and one of the first songs I learned was blow your mind... I was inmediatly hooked to the groove of the band, Stuart Zender was one of my bass teachers among with some other great bass players like Steve Harris, Sting, etc... I hope you bring Mister Zender for an interview!! after so many years he is still very much loved and remembered for putting on massive grooves on these iconic songs during Jamiroquai first albums
  • @macdaddybender
I love Stu Zender because you can hear he's a very talented, yet still learning, bassist in the first album. By the time we get to "Return of the Space Cowboy" he's become the master. Hearing his progression from one album to the next is what I enjoy most.
  • @baimun
So many Jamiroquai songs are treasure troves where (depending on which aspects you're looking for... groove, bass lines, phrasing, etc) you can just come back over and over and keep finding new parts to love and learn! â˜źâ€đŸŽ¶
  • @psykys
Toby, Zender and Van Gelder. The golden age of Jamiroquai. Great video, and good tune selection
  • @Ajushi08
Playing bass and not listening to Jamiroquai is like living life deaf, dumb, and blind!
  • @OniBurei
The starting line on Manifest Destiny from Space Cowboy always stood out to me, could honestly make an hour long video for Jamiroquai songs hahah
  • @cesarbaron
You need to make a second part . So many iconic lines are still out: canned heat, scam, return of the space cowboy, time won’t wait, use the force, love foolosophy.
  • I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Turner at a lecture when I was in music school. I was going to play Deeper Underground for an examination and he was kind enough to play the riff with me and give me some pointers! Lovely man
  • @denispajot512
So good memories - I studied those lines for hours when I started playing bass. So much to learn, so fun to play. Jamiroquai certainly have the sense of putting bass in the frontline in his songs. Thanks for this video. Thanks for the passion.
