Environmental Toxins and Brain Disease | Webinar

Published 2023-07-28
Could the harmful pesticides we breathe in each day be the reason Parkinson’s is currently the fastest growing brain disease in the world—and why the amount of people affected is projected to double by the year 2040?

To answer this question, Board Chair David Dodick, MD, FAAN, sat down with Ray Dorsey, MD, David M. Levy Professor of Neurology and director of the Center for Health and Technology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. They discussed the risks of environmental toxins on the brain, what can be done to limit the impact of these toxins, where current research efforts are focused, and more.

The audience had a chance to ask questions related to how policymakers are being lobbied to make changes to protect the public from Parkinson’s risk, why environmental risks for Parkinson’s are still relatively unknown among experts and the public, the role of environmental toxins in other neurodegenerative diseases, and more.
