The musicality/composition is so genius, not just the lyrics. Like how "caught in a lie" is the only line of the song in a major key (usually associated with happiness), while the rest of the song is in a minor key (usually associated with sadness, mystery, unease). So, the line "caught in a lie" is itself a lie amongst the rest of the song - the "happiness" is a lie. And the constant triple time (?) beat makes the entire song very suspenseful, always driving forwards restlessly towards something without resolution (emphasised by the sudden ending of the song)

The fact that the lyrics is written by Jimin himself and that he contributed heavily in composing and producing this tracks speaks heavily of both how talented he is and of how much he went thru. This song is one of the tracks that I resonate the most with in my entire life and Jimin's journey to self love is so inspiring to someone like me.

No Idol till date is able to cover/perform Jimin's Lie. He's a genius and extraordinary performer.

He has said that this song is so emotional for him, that he sometimes has trouble singing it. This is his masterpiece.

See? We told you once you JIMIN you cant JIMOUT!!! Actually Jimin is the reason I started to notice and listen to BTS music (cause I have some prejudice about Kpop). His dance movement and facial expression captured my attention. At first when I get to know more about BTS I just focus on Jimin but because of their strong bonds, their personalities and their story from zero to legend had inspired me that I became an OT7 😌😆 I love all of them 💜

Jimin only has 4 solo songs but all of them are a masterpiece. Most especially when he's performing live.

This is also my favourite Jimin solo, although Filter is a close second. Honestly when I first heard this song I don’t think I listened to anything else for a week, and months later I’m still pretty obsessed😁. The composition, the instrumentation, the rhythm, the lyrics- and OMG his VOICE!!!

♦️Jimin wrote the lyrics not only by himself, but was the only one to send his very first draft to the producers, and it was approved, so no need for a rewrite! The lie is the lie he keeps telling himself. Always in the past aiming for perfection and by doing so always questioning and second guessing himself! Although deep inside he knows better! The other lie is telling himself as well as everyone else that everything is alright when it's not!! Jimin has grown and changed, along with the other members since then. All learning to love themselves for who & what they are flaws and all! Jimin is now able to, as his song Promise says, shine the light on himself, as well, speaking up more when things bother him and allowing himself to laugh off whenever he makes any kind of mistake, knowing now he can always perfect or improve on whatever is lacking next time!!
