Doctor Who review of season 1 episode 8 finale as Ncuti Gatwa ends season 1 with Millie Gibson on Disney+. This season of Doctor Who was in partnership with the BBC and Disney, but while the budgets improved, the story seems to have entered a different dimension. Brining back Sutekh for the Doctor Who finale from Classic Doctor Who was menat to get fans back, but was the story wrapped up in a satisfying way? Did Ruby's mum save the world? Is Doctor Who worth watching?

Doctor Who review of Season 1 episode 8 the season finale. The BBC and Disney partnered to build up to this episode to save Disney+, and failed. With lots of plot threads left specially for this episode, you at least expected AN ANSWER. No, nothing, not a single care in order to make the story satisfying for the audience. This episode reaked to me of you've already sat through the messaging I wanted to send you, and so now why should I care at the end. This episode gets worse at it goes along just because you realise where the story is going. All the plotlines, every episode, none of it meant anything. It was just bad writing. I wasn't even a fan of the previous episodes, but somehow still managed to be disappointed by the story. This episode, is indefensible. But what did you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below, and as always, thanks for watching :)

Woman: What's your name? Ruby: Ruby Woman: Ruby Who? Ruby: Ruby Skywalker
  • They could create a Tardis out of thin air by just "remembering harder", but he had to travel to another planet.. for a spoon?
  • I can't believe that RTD, the person who brought back Dr Who, the person that created the Sarah Jane Adventures because he loved Liz Sladen so much, would crap all over her memory with such a dismissive line about her and Tom Baker in what is generally rated as one of the best stories in Tom Baker's tenure. What a scumbag.
  • In Ecclestones last two episodes when the Doctor, Rose and Jack where trapped in reality game shows ie Big Brother. They met a woman, and asked, "don't the controllers know what is happening in the shows". The woman answers "the masters don't watch the shows" This is BBC and Disney.

Has anyone else noticed that cultural appropriation only swings one way?
  • I like how Sutekh spends literally thousands of years waiting until a doctor arrives who so bad at his job that he thinks now let’s just try it 😅
  • @nikonbear7882
So Sutekh was guilty of cultural appropriation of the Egyptians but it’s OK for the Doctor to wear a kilt?
  • "I don't want people to associate disabled people as evil!" "I don't want people to play with the sonic screwdriver like a gun!" "HERES A 13 YEAR OLDD MOBILITY SEGWAY WITH MOUNTED MACHINE GUNS!!!!!!!!!!"
  • @Sousabird
The fact that Unit doesn't have a way to torch their own operation center as a last resort seems almost comically inept.
  • @augustandjune
The TARDIS has advanced sensors that can detect anything, yet somehow it missed an invisible being hanging onto it for billions of years? That means Sutekh would be everywhere, since the TARDIS rebooted the entire universe in "Rhe Big Bang." What a colossal joke this show has become.
  • Doctor Who with Rose: We'll do a big reveal that the reason she saw bad wolf everywhere was because she was seeding the time stream with clues to create herself and save the Doctor Doctor Who with Martha: we'll do a big reveal that she wasn't walking the earth to assemble a weapon, but just to spread the word about the doctor so the shared faith of humanity can restore the doctor so he can win the day with compassion Doctor Who with Donna: We'll do a big reveal that the reason the ood called her the doctor donna was because she became part Timelord and the doctor has to remove her best memories to save her Doctor Who with Ruby: We'll do a big reveal that the reason the god of death couldn't see her mom's face was because he had a bad camera angle and Ruby's mom was just dramatically pointing at a street sign, with no one around, in the dark, for her own self benefit. Ruby's mom is a bit of a drama queen like that.
  • “I will use this spoon. I promise.” “I don’t want to know the details but please make sure it’s thoroughly disinfected before you give it back.”
  • She can't remember her husband We could say that it's a bit like her daughter has no father... THE POWER OF MANYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
  • He thought bringing back Sutekh will appeal to the old fans. The same old fans he literally told can leave and not watch the show? That's a great strategy.
  • RTD seems like one angry dude. His self loathing is palpable and he takes it out on the world, in the name of righteousness.
  • @Dave_L913
The 4th Doctor didn't send Sutekh into the time vortex. Sutekh was traveling down a spatial corridor from Mars to Earth, and the Doctor used some equipment from the TARDIS to lengthen the corridor so that Sutekh would die of old age before he got to the end of it.
  • Sutek traveled in/on the Tardis since the 70s and what in all that time didn't care to come out until now, but, the one question he must know is "Who is Ruby's mum?". The God of Death is now the God of Gossip.
  • @agdewey
I can't believe the legendary Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith, were referred to as people who "just travelled in the TARDIS"! This is the same Sarah Jane Smith, who RTD brought back in Series 2, for an emotional reunion, and who went on to star in her own TV series! 😠
