I'm so sorry to hear that you got laid off, I know that you probably feel so scared at the moment not knowing what lies ahead for you. I wish you the BEST!

Do not wait: apply for any possible job for income. Forget about "dream job". Take what is available, maintain skills at home and keep trying to get back to tech.
  • As someone who lives in a small town, it blows my mind some of the starting salaries for the jobs you had on your screen. I know the cost of living is higher in big cities but "Data scientist marketing" starts at 152K .... whoa. I always thought IT jobs paid well but damn, if you are making that much you should be able to save enough so you have a comfy nest egg while you look. if not, make that a important thing your next job.

"Today will be your last day", it's so crazy to think how easily you're getting fired in the US, zero protection?

Just got laid off too. I did data analysis previously for a hospital, but left the field. Look into litigation support: very similar skillset and lawyers are always busy.
  • Always be on the job market - you never know what the future holds.
  • Learn to drive forklift. I work in tech and do a material handling. Everything is dynamic and not static. Even I have two full time jobs. I still do side hustle because the end goal, you shouldn't be dependent on any employer for paycheck.
  • Got laid off from my tech job. Good thing that i've had a gut feeling and started doing job interviews couple of months prior. Timed that perfectly - accepted an offer just about the same time layoff news about whole team termination rolled out.

It's so fucked up how they can just cut you off but THEY want 2 weeks notice to replace you. Just sickening.

im a lefty, i get it haha. any good developer picks themself up, dusts themself down and gets back in there. in the down time you should be writing projects that stretch you to your limits. linkedin is a good place for jobs, good luck.
