  • OKAY! For all those people who are saying this story stole the "Will-o-Wisps" from Brave, the animator technically didn't steal them... If you watch SuperCarlinBrothers, you'd know that the will-o-wisps weren't created by Disney... They were originally an old folk tale thing that these blue orbs led people to their deaths.
  • The "Wakan" is based on a Native American (Wampanoag) lore. They're called “Tei-Pai-Wankas.” They are spheres of light, and are similar to the will-o-wisp. They are victims that the Pukwudgie have killed. The Pukwudgie then use the ghost of it's victims to lure other unsuspecting humans to their deaths.
  • I'm part Cherokee and in Native American mythology, owls represent death. They are keepers and hearalders of the souls of the dead.
  • This reminds me of the dream I had where my mom died and became a butterfly. She wouldn't let me be a butterfly too because she said I had to finish my life. I woke up in complete hysteria. I cried for hours.
  • Thank you for giving us back our hope at the end.  "The ending was so awful."  But it wasn't, actually.  In the end of all of our lives, transformation overtakes us and we are returned to what we were, but also changed because of what we knew here.  She was, at first, left behind because of his brave and selfless deed, even as he was, in loneliness, separated from her as the price of his sacrifice.  To repay him, she gave up all she had left, even as he had, so that they could be together again, always free, always together, and always joy-filled.  The ending was the best ending of all, and it is promised to all of us in every case eventually.
  • That blanket tho.... seriously it's really hard to animate material like that well and that was q u a l i t y
  • @Miluiel01
the owl kinda reminds me of that owl in avatar with the library that is inside of that tower in the desert
  • Well kids never leave home without an adult or you'll turn into a blue orb thing from Brave
  • @oly5883
That went from happy seconds to straight down to sadness and dark but in the end just a few seconds of sowing the two souls, made my feelings die completely but in a happy way. 😢😢😢😢😢😿😿😿😿👍👍👍👍👍💙💜❤💛💚

This gives me hope. That one day after I pass away I'll become energy and can reunite with my late husband. We can even reincarnate together and have a better life next time around. I hope for the best. He was my best friend. I miss him every minute of every day and night.
  • It's so incredible how everyone views this one short film so differently. I see this as love is love, no matter the color, no matter the "species" (in this case), no matter what the situation is, love is love. It also shows me that even if their death came early, they died happy because they were together and built a future together instead of hiding who they truly were! Love this! <3

Finaly and unexpected ending! Both died!
  • @ManPac1
A dark but warm hearted story. Loved the ending!
  • A few good lessons in one small story. Love, fear and above all respect the wakan , (sacred). How many of us would give our lives for someone we love? I don't know. Maybe many, maybe few. Respect the wakan or you may not like the lesson the sacred teaches you.
  • Wait,Wait,Wait... So lemme get this straight: The blue things(or wispes) are the souls of the people that interfered with the balance of life with a flower. And then they die and turn into the wispes and are forever to bring more souls to the flower. Well, I get the lesson they are trying to teach her and that is; never step outside of your home and follow weird blue things into a forest because they will make you touch a flower and you will die and become a blue thing. Yep, makes sense to me.
