Catalan separatist returns to Barcelona

Published 2024-08-08
Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont has appeared at a rally in Barcelona in defiance of an arrest warrant. It's the first time he’s been seen on Spanish soil in 7 years. He’d been living in self-imposed exile in Belgium after a failed bid to have Catalonia secede from Spain.

Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports from Barcelona.
