How to get Free TV with a Paper Clip

Used to do this with CRT TVs and analog signal, good to know it still works.

I tried this after the 2016 Super Bowl, (wish I had known about it before hand) and was completely floored by it working. But I improved my signal by wrapping foil around a wire hanger (after snipping and unfolding it) tying it to the paperclip and then wrapping some around the top end of the hanger. I get about 20+ channels that way. My local ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, their sub channels (MeTV, LAFF etc.) PBS, and more. Does this work for older TVs too?

I have done this since 1979. You still may have to jiggle the paper clip, move your tv around the room, but that is no different the HD antenna that you pay for, still have to move the antenna around the room trying to catch a signal, on cloudy days, when a plan goes by, when it is snowing or raining. I have also used a piece of copper wire, straight pin, bobbie pin, the old cable cord disconnected from the wall and can drag it around and get a signel. Just because they say you have to have it doesn't mean they are telling you the truth, just try and you may surprise yourself.

I ended gettn 18 channels! That includes NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS, & Some local spanish stations! Thanks bro!

I was sure that this was some more YT B.S. but I was wrong. It does work, at least for some channels. I'm getting most of the channels available in my area (Montreal), except a few that I never watch anyway. The paper clip actually works better than a cheap commercial antenna I bought a few months ago. But not as well as the much larger Antennas Direct C1N that I bought a couple weeks ago. This one can even receive a Plattsburg NY PBS channel, whose antenna sits atop a mountain, about 80 KM (50 miles) away. The paper clip will stay in as a back-up (my main antenna is hooked to my Tablo DVR).

Do you unplug the tv before doing this?

Do you have any advice on quality profile for videos. Maybe a snapshot of what you use?

Would it be beneficial to use one of those little amplifiers with this method?

26 with large paper chip. Added large binderclip and got 48. Dallas/Fort Worth

this is legit, in my opinion though. My rca tv doesn't have a working cable/antenna port and I am gonna try it on my parents tv since it might work :D
