No, you're not tripping. It is the same video but it is a little different. To put it simply, I was pretty unsatisfied with what I uploaded (mostly the lack of perspective) so I decided to fix a few things. I am MUCH more happier with this version. Some parts I'm still iffy on, but over all, pretty proud of it :3
(I'll still consider this a Valentine's Day vid, since it was posted on the day)

Finally! After months of work, here it is!
This was a project long in the making (since September, I think) and something I've been wanting to do since I first heard this awesome song. Though it started as simple wish fulfillment, I ended up becoming really attached to this project and it's property, it was quite a ride! It's a joy to see it complete and I hope you all enjoy it!

Also, my channel's seven years old now...wild.

"How Bad Can I Be?" is how the Onceler saw himself... Biggering is what actually happened
  • I loved the bit with the competing companies, before the panicked face of pride comes in demanding more and more. The oncler can be anyone, and I think more people need to realize that. Good job, my favorite storyboard so far!

I love the detail of the Once-ler saying he "wasn't aware of bad water" because it shows how even when companies do know something they always say they don't, and they want to come across as somebody who just made a mistake.
  • i love the part at 2:36 so much. the Once-ler staring at the Lorax as if his ego was really hurt
  • When the Lorax was talking about greed and pride, he was trying to save the Once-ler from himself.
  • i actually really like the representation of the survival of the fittest line in this video 3:35; the Barbaloots fighting over for a single piece of fruit because they're completely desperate and there is little to no food left after most of the Truffula trees are cut down
  • You managed to capture all the brutality and rawness of a song in an equally brutal and raw animatic, while the Once-ler enjoys destroying the ecosystem to keep biggering My most sincere congratulations

I love how you understand that not just tree's were dying when Biggering was being considered. 4:35
  • I love how he smiles when alone when he had nothing, but he only smiles when he’s outside of his office after Biggering. The Once-Ler is Biggering didn’t make him happier, it did the opposite.
  • It’s a small thing, but I’m glad you made the Once-ler smoke. It was a big part of his character in 1972 and I understand that they couldn’t have him do that in an Illumination film, but it carries very important symbolism. To live in the here and now without caring about future consequences. Even if you know it’s bad but chose to deny it, reality will be undeniable when it’s too late.

Little detail I caught, instead of saying, "who cares if a few trees are dying" it says, "who cares if a few THINGS are dying" showing not only trees are dying, and he knows, but is too blinded from greed to care.

0:29 I love this opening verse because it shows how the Once-Ler is rationalizing his greed. He used to be content with his small cottage, but now he’s looking back saying that he just didn’t realize how he needed more.

One of my favorite bits in this animatic is how the Onceler used the bears fighting over food as an example of "survival of the fittest" to justify what he's doing, not realizing that what he's doing MADE them this way. Its great circular hypocrisy that shows his utter selfishness, corruption, and lack of remorse. Using an example that he made himself to justify his path of destruction.

At 4:40 you can see how instead of the lyrics being "who cares if a few trees are dying" its "who cares if somethings are dying" here, the onceler is not only talking about the tree but the animals like the barbaloots, hummning fish, etc. And i like how you showed that by adding a swan falling with the trees

God this really drives home everything that the movie should’ve done. If the song had been put into the movie and it had a darker tone, it should’ve definitely taken your approach. I absolutely adore the tiny details that add so much character and realism to this. It really portrays our society and the real affects of industrial pollution and how money goes to the heads of those in power. I especially love the gradual color shift of the hues to be more dark. I don’t know if that was your intention but its brilliant. This is all just. MWAH. Chefs kiss.
  • @-Blasphemy-
THIS NEEDS MORE VIEWS, I love how this actually fleshes out the Onceler's rise over time and how much darker you made the song. The way you showed the animals struggling- especially in the "principle of nature" part was so clever! Also, "Wozit" and "thingamabob" killed me XDD
  • I've seen a bunch of Biggering animatics over the years........ and wow. I really love yours. The scenes in it are brutal, chilling, and realistic. Fantastic job.
  • I got chills at the part where the Bar-ba-loots are fighting over the pear. After all, we've only ever seen them getting along with each other. Really drives home just what the destruction of their environment does to the animals. I'd say this scene puts your animatic a step above the other Biggering animatics I've seen. And the Once-ler coughing at the end was such a nice touch, I wish it was in the movie (minus the smoking bit, for obvious reasons).
