  • Very insightful video. For me segmentation of users takes the most time. There are so many possibilities. For example, build a ridesharing app for elderly. There are different types (rural vs. urban; physically able vs. challenged) and some videos recommend coming up with 3 and then pick 1.

Extremely insightful video. Thank you Diana!

Thank you for another great video. Your channel by far has the best value for the preparation for such interviews.

Pain points take me the longest. I usually end up with 4-6 steps in the user journey and 2-4 pain points each. I also share my doc with the interviewer and write everything down, then I have to go through the user journey and explain everything, and rant a bit. It takes me less than 10 minutes to go through this section, but boy does it feel longer than every other one. I am relieved to hear that this is your recommendation (to spend the longest time in this section). It's usually not hard to come up with meaningful pain points after a lot of practice, but there are just so many and I should really try not to be 100% exhaustive here like you recommended.

thank you! being in industry for a while its hard to get back into interview mode, this definitely helps!

Pain point is the most challenging for me. Somteimes its solution but mostly it's really pain points.

Other challenging portion is at the very top. Let's say it's Travel product. I feel like asking "do we want to focus on planning travel, or during travel or after travel?" but then I fear I will narorw myself down too much for me and my skill to creatively and deeply think through a narrow space. What shall one do? Narrow funnel from beginning or keep it open ?
  • @vishalshah9619
2 Question for pain points: Where I have trouble with is 1) Is the pain point too narrow? That makes me feel like "crap! It's so narrow I will only have 1 solution" 2)Sometimes I come up with pain point that starts sounding like solution. What shall be your advice ?
  • I have a hard time segmenting the user base quickly. There are so many options of how to segment - which one is the best one and which one will I be able to identify great pain points for? I know I need to get faster at this

Great content! In your opinion, what would be a good (not shallow) explanation for how building a product for the grocery store experience aligns with Facebook's mission?

I am seeing a recent trend where people are trying to ask you a product sense question on top of either another product sense or 2 other unrelated (not follow ups) questions. This means your product sense is limited to 15-20 minutes. Now, I am not sure why that is or if this is here to stay, but I've either encountered or have heard people encountered this at a few companies. Google does this sometimes, as an example. Even if not, some companies like to ask "what is your favorite product" or "tell me a product you don't like". in which case you need to spend at least 5 minutes to give some reasoning up front. Some other companies, like Coinbase, only gives you 30 minutes to do a case. TL;DR: there may be other cases: 1) 25m to do one (favorite products - 5m to explain why you like it + 25m on the product sense itself) 2) 15m to do one (two product sense prompts in one round, or a product sense with 1-2 other unrelated, not follow up questions) 3) 15m to do one (30m round) Any advice there?

I noticed in your videos that you don't include metrics in the product sense question. Is it safe to say I don't need to include metrics if I'm interviewing for Meta? I'm seeing mixed feedback from Meta PMs. For example, the Art & Science videos are also by a Meta PM and he includes success metrics in the product sense question. Any insight would be much appreciated if you could share if metrics should be included in product sense questions for Meta. Thanks so much! Your videos have been super helpful with my interview prep.
