Lyrics:
Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do nowhere to go-o-oh
I wanna be sedated

Just get me to the airport, put me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh no-o-o-o-o

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do nowhere to go-o-oh
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, get me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry before I go insane
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my brain
Oh no-o-o-o-o

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do nowhere to go-o-oh
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh no-o-o-o-o

Twenty-twenty-twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do nowhere to go-o-oh
I wanna be sedated

Just put me in a wheelchair, get me to the show
Hurry, hurry, hurry before I go loco
I can't control my fingers, I can't control my toes
Oh no-o-o-o-o

Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated
Ba ba baba, baba ba baba, I wanna be sedated

“I enjoyed my life when I had nothing... and kinda like the idea of just being happy with me.” - Joey Ramone

Today Joey would be 70 years old, I wish he could see that the number of fans that he captivated is still valid and growing a lot over the years, wherever he is I wish him a happy birthday, thank you for being one of my idols.

My dad loved this song. He passed away in 2019 at age 85 and we played it at his wake. RIP Dad and all the band

Today should be RAMONE'S DAY and celebrated with this song. After all the date is the opening lyric: 2020-20-4!

A fun fact about the Ramones song "I Wanna Be Sedated" is that it was written in response to the band's experiences while on a grueling tour. During that period, the members of the Ramones were tired and exhausted from the intensity of their lifestyle in the world of punk rock. The song captures the feeling of exhaustion and the need to escape from that reality through sedation.
  • I am so glad I got see them live. They played an early show at Lollapalooza in the 90’s and I was right up front. Props to them for wearing leather jackets in that TN heat. 🥵
  • The song is a paradox. Such high energy yet the lyrics tell a story of someone trying to escape it.

Recorded originally in 1978, but this video was shot ten years later, 1988 for promoting the "Gold-awarded" compilation album, Ramonesmania.
