Her comment of "WHAT DID YOU DOOOOOO!!?" (@8:26) made me laugh even HARDER than I already was!! OH MAN! This is THE funniest video I've seen in LIFE in like months!! WOW. Just wow, seriously, Girl, THANK YOU for a really good laugh and for sharing this EPIC ADHD true life story!!
  • @Sir-Fix-a-Lot
As a European I can tell that no-one here uses hectograms for anything outside of school when you learn about weight. Any normal store would have the price either per 100g or per kg.
  • @plantyfan
Ok I'm gonna need a new series called, "That's so ADHD!" where you and/or Dani collect anecdotes from Brains and Hearts where everything turned out ok but it's an insane story 😂
  • @bonessasan
Cheese is not the worst thing to have accidentally bought "too much" of. And when you're eating it often (and for a while) after you get home, that's a fantastic way to revisit Italy in a small way without actually having to be there.
  • @madlion9273
Nobody is perfect ADHD or otherwise. Being kind to yourself and others when they are being a flawed human can help make things a lot less stressful.
  • @joshuascharf8753
Jessica, don't feel bad about this. Hecto gram is not a common thing across Europe; so we as Germans (my wife without ADHD and I) could have completely fallen for it as well. Loved your comment on: don't expect your travel partner to not have ADHD when your on vacation. Great summary! Enjoy that cheese now 😅
  • @paulnielsen3525
I don't have ADHD (like my son and wife do), but I must say . . . that is NOT too much cheese, and it's Italian so it's probably wonderful aged goodness!
  • @KiraFriede
To be fair, as a German, I also didn't know that hectogram was a thing. I probably would have made the same mistake as you with the price. Well, probably not the whole mistake, because I know how much a kilo is. So I would have ordered it in grams.😮
  • @SuperWhatapain
😂😂😂 quarter wheel of cheese with one minute left. I can SO relate
  • @TheS4ndm4n
I'm an engineer from Germany, I have always used the metric systems and we do have hectoliters (which is an abomination of a unit, from a technical point of view), but I have never seen hectograms and I 100% would have made the same mistake. I mean I do have ADHD myself, but still...
  • @Mocodity
I live in France. This is not an unreasonable amount of cheese. 😊
  • @athlene110
Lol. I am from Canada and we use metric and I have never heard of hectograms in my life. Didn't learn it in school, didn't know it exists until right now from this story. This was funny. I'm glad the cheese didn't go bad and that you were able to bring it home!! Cheese is certainly a unique momento!

10:53 "The brain that's trying to manage the condition is impacted by the condition." The essential Catch-22 of ADHD! 11:32 "Don't expect them [or yourself!] to magically not have ADHD..." I had to discover these TRANSFORMATIVE insights on my own despite being diagnosed years ago. Sing it from the rooftops! 🤩 Metacognition is MAGIC! ✨Good intro: Metacognition - A Brief Explaine
  • @Felix-qq6sx
Ouch... I know why the cheese shop sold you these amounts. As a family, we often order similar amounts of cheese if we find good cheese shops during vacation. But we're 10 people with 2 cars, intending to gift some of it to other families. I hope the cheese is good and has not gone bad before it got eaten.
  • @BlackPanthaa
love this story, so funny 🤣 it really makes you think how you could handle a situation similar with your future kids!, to help them be more positive about funny mistakes!

My life is ran with hacks. I’m 62 and recently dx with combined type ADHD. Having been unknowingly ADHD all my life (treated for depression) and friends who say “but you are successful”, I clearly have had to have a lifestyle I created to be able to succeed. Example: Went back to college at 50 after being laid off from 19 year career job. Recorded all lectures (with permission) so I could focus on lecture and listen to recording to take notes later. The list is big by the time you’re 62🤷🏻‍♀️😁 Thanks for keeping it real. I send people your way often❤️

I live in Europe and I've never heard of hg, that was clearly a trap they set for tourists! But that 'hack' hits hard. I've always worried about everything because deep down I know that it is impossible for me to enjoy life without inevitably making a careless mistake or impulsive decision that will fuck everything up and then I'll feel shit about myself for ages (forever really). But you've just presented me with the idea that I can just try my best and when I inevitably mess up, I can just... forgive myself, accept it and laugh about it? I'm honestly still trying to get my head around it but thank you for giving me this idea. Lastly, not judging or anything, but I would have eaten all that cheese in like 2 days.
  • @sootycat2740
I impulse bought a block of cheese on Wednesday! And took it to my creative writing group (basically just a bunch of neurodivergents)… and we all wrote about the cheese! And ate all of the cheese! 🧀 This story has very much made my day ❤
  • @strawycape9693
So much cheese! Don't feel too bad about not knowing the measurement units - we use metric in the UK and I had never heard of a hectogram. Glad you managed to bring the cheese all the way home, and a reminder that (most) cheese can be frozen just fine if you are worried about wasting any - we had a tower of cheeses instead of a wedding cake this summer and still have several chunks in the freezer.
  • @NerdyAardvark
I lived in Italy for a couple years and it took me a while to figure out what hg was. Confusingly, in Italian "hecto" becomes "etto", making the abbreviation even less obvious. Once you inderstand that a hectogram=100 g, it's actually a really convenient unit roughly equal to a small snack of food.
