There are many things Pokemon can be based on, especially recently, and especially taking their home region into account. Some of the most interesting to me are the Pokemon based partially on things that were discovered or invented in the region they call home! So in this video, I explain some of the biggest and most important things invented in Spain and Portugal, and commissioned some new Pokemon based on them. Sort of ideas or soft-predictions about what kinds of new Pokemon we could see in the Paldea region.

You called a tempura pokemon, or at least a mon that references Spain's ties to sushi! Tatsugiri is so cute, I'm glad it was included
  • @Scouthedog1
Honestly Pokemon company should just hire you at this point Lockstin. You clearly know what you're doing with these designs.
  • @iamspotpanda
In Portuguese, a Man o' War is called a "Caravela", just like the boat. "Vulto" is the word for a shadow or apparition, especially an elusive one. So maybe Caravulto could work?
  • @ASCENSiON_
The Paldean Swirlix line should be pure Fairy ➡️ Fairy/Fire upon evolution. It's based on hot chocolate, it has an extra spicy kick in Spain, and it has the ability to cause spontaneous anger/paranoia when too much of it is consumed. It's super fitting IMO ☕️🔥

I can't believe Alolan persian is a galarian Pokémon.
  • @scootinkermie
I know he probably thought about it but the Reading stone one could've been a cool Sableye
  • @nickmclean531
Thanks to the comment about the rage caused by chocolate, I think the swirlix/slurpuff line being fairy/dark could actually be really neat. This line being a set of chocolates that make you happy if you take small tastes of it, but indulge too much and it sends you into a wild rage attacking anything you see like a dog with rabies
  • @mctankies
Honestly, the Galagic line is probably my favorite. There's just something super inspiring about reaching for the stars.
  • I would love to see a regional form of Duraludon that's either Grass or Flying instead of Steel, as instead of being building it would be a windmill. Make it the signature mon of an old crazy guy who is way to invested with knighthood and you have a perfect reference to the most iconic scene of Don Quijote de la Mancha.
  • I feel like lockstin is underrated for how much effort he puts into the video, especially since he presents information in a way that’s easier to retain than most school classes. Pretty sure I remember more info from his Pokémon videos than most history teachers I had in school.
  • The Emo Water Cinccino is probably going to be one of my favourite things if it got into Scarlet and Violet that it's going to instantly be on my team
  • @justsomejojo
I honestly could see GF going for a more disguised cigarette pokemon. Like, maybe a Fire/Poison or Fairy/Poison snake pokemon that's mostly light colored (white or beige) with a black head. If you take black snake, carbon snake and pharao's snake experiments as additional sources, you can definitely make a snake mon that stealthily references cigarettes. Though it's not necessarily Spain related, I just thought the idea was cool.

14:55 Tentacruel's beta name was actually Manowar. I actually had a poster as a kid with a bunch of pokemon with beta names. I didn't know they were beta names at the time, so later in my life I thought I was remembering wrong and I looked it up.
  • @leonarduxis12
As a portuguese. Thank you so much for recognizing our existence!
  • Will you be able to do a video for the newly revealed Pokemon Wiglett? It would be interesting to discuss the difference of convergent evolutions and regional variants/evos.
  • Always thought that the reason hisuian pokemon would be in Paldea was because the portuguese brought them there, as they were the first ones to find Japan. If that ends up correct I would like to see at least one or 2 more references, I really think the plaza shown in the trailers, is a mix of Plaza Mayor, with its structure, and Terreiro do Paço with its colors and buildings a bit too. Can't wait to find more about the Paldea's pokedex!
  • @Asgeirsun
The man-o-war based one is so damn cool. I love the design idea and the ghost/water typing too. I really want there to be something like it in S&V...
  • @jhvids7889
I LOVE all the thought and detail that you put into your Pokémon! I feel like each design has like 5 different inspirations that all fit together beautifully. Also for the Swirlix variant line, how about Fairy/Dark cus of dark chocolate?
