New York 1971 - Public Talk 2 - What you think, you are

Summary:

What is hidden in the deeper layers of the mind, the unconscious?

Does analysis produce a radical change, or is it an intellectual entertainment, an avoidance of action?

What are dreams?

Where there is an observer separating himself from the thing he observes, there must be conflict.

Thought gives vitality to an incident that is over.

Q: When I get up in the morning, realising that I am the observer and there is the object that I observe, what do I do to change this?

Q: When the jealousy is ‘me’, and ‘me’ is the jealousy, the conflict ends because I know it is jealousy and it disappears. But when I listen to the noises in the street and the ‘me’ is the noises and the noises are ‘me’, how can conflict end when that noise will go on forever?

This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.

The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'

We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.

Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at [email protected]

Once you start listening to these types of videos it’s hard to stop.
  • I observed a baby of about 1 to 2 years of age. The baby saw his Grandmother. The baby's instant reaction was pure Joy and Happiness, including very deep tummy laughter. This purity of Action gets ruined by the conditioning of this Life
  • @ohmisskaimi

Anyone interested in this video please get ahold of his books. They are so profound and the insights will stay with you for years. I've had his book Think On These Things since I was 17. I'm now 41, I've moved many times and been through so many life changes -- this book has physically stayed with me through all these years because it's importance to me.

Ironically, a person brought upon as world teacher renounced all the titles bestowed upon him and finally became a true world teacher.

  • Oh now that is selflessness, complete utter compassion and mindfulness of other preferences, all in one moment... as he asked the crowd if he could take his own coat off.... awh. He is such a gentleman AND a gentle, loving soul. 😊
  • Feeling ashamed of myself I was not aware of such a great philosopher and great personality in my homeland. Thanks to internet.

  • 🙏 thank you to the speaker for pointing out what he found personally. He shares his gifts like a concerned friend. 🙏
  • By mistake, the previous video completed, and this one rolled in, while I was preoccupied with something else, and I am not usually a great fan of his work, but always greatly respected him.  Half hearing him, while engaged in other activities, reinforced why I was never a fan. But, I just couldn’t turn it off either, because I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HIS METICULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL ENGLISH ORATORY SHAKESPEAREAN presentation. I just became transfixed on his pauses and extraordinary diction and power. Suddenly, out of the blue, I got what he was saying. I find myself dumbfounded. I am now a fan. Just love him.
