Actor Jack Carson starred in a highly successful radio show for several years. The title varied over time. The wartime Dec. 20, 1944 episode of "The Jack Carson Show" featured this beautiful rendition of "White Christmas" with a special message to "our folks" overseas.

The photograph is from the movie "Roughly Speaking" (1945), in which Carson played Harold C. Pierson, the real-life father of Oscar-winning screenwriter Frank Pierson.
