HTTYD is probably one of the best animated trilogies of all time. When you get to the third movie, you'll feel so many emotions, and you'll get why they told their story in three parts.

Something I haven’t seen anyone mention is that Hiccup losing his leg is mean to reflect Toothless’ loss of his tail. The two are symmetrical and it’s honestly a beautiful way to show their bond, it’s also theory that Toothless had to bite off Hiccup’s foot in order to save him, I like it because then both took something from the other but together they are whole

This movie is good because of the big things (music, sweeping panoramas, action scenes) but is GREAT for the small things (toothless' eyes, Stoic's changing tone and posture when just around his son versus being in front of the village (it shows that Stoic cares about Hiccup but doesn't know how to raise/treat him.)). If you missed it, when Stoic walks out he takes a half stumble back realizing he had gone too far but then squares himself to lead the village. One of the theories on Hiccup loosing the leg is that Toothless actually tore/damaged it grabbing him in the fall as it was the first part of him that Toothless could reach.
  • You would be surprised that one of the screen directors and writers, Chris Sanders, is the voice of Stitch and the creator of Lilo and Stitch. When you look at Toothless you notice that he has a lot of looks and personalities just like Stitch, which is very cool and a nice touch.
  • On Gobber's stone "tooth": he's using the stone to fill in the gap to keep his teeth from getting all screwy. I've got a broken tooth, but no dentist will pull it. Without a bridge, the teeth on either side would shift, loosen, and fall over to fill the gap, causing more problems than the broken tooth already is. So Gobber using a false tooth is pretty advanced dentistry for their society. Besides How To Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda trilogies, I love Rise Of The Guardians. It often gets overlooked, but it was made in the middle of DreamWorks' hot streak, when they were making the best animated films ever
  • This is what I'm talking about Mello! The fact you get so emotionally invested in the films you watch is the reason why I keep coming back. Its clear you take the medium very seriously. Good on you for having the courage to lay your heart out there for us to see. I really appreciate you, mate! As always I look forward to the next reaction
  • 11:58 the best edit you’ve ever done. I honestly look forward to the rest of the series. It’s one of my favorites

When hiccups dad walks out the door after disowning him. I love the beat he has to take and the realization. You can see on his face that he should have never said that. You can see it and it's amazing that that's inanimation we can still see that
  • John Powell and Jonsi really went hard on the music for this movie. So glad you did this one, I love these movies! <3 I hope you do 2 and 3 as well! Also! The game World of Warcraft gives you the ability to fly dragons and with their new expansion you can actually play as a humanoid dragon.

Definitely keep going with the series, hands down the best animated trilogy out there. While I love the Kung Fu Panda movies, this franchise blows it out of the water, there is just so much more character development and growth throughout!
  • @TheMarvelousM
Love this flick, this film was a reminder of how much effort is put into DreamWorks Animation.
  • I love Stoic and Hiccups relationship. They love eachother but struggle to understand eachother. Hiccup wants to be the man his Father is, Stoic finds it easier to lead a war than raise his son. It would have been so easy to make him unlikeable, but we see how much it hurts him to think he's lost his son. Definitely watch the sequels.
  • @YAGB
the leap in animation quality between this and the 2nd movie is INCREDIBLE
  • This was one of my childhood favorites. I’d give it a solid 9.5/10. The animations haven’t aged the best in the world but it’s soch a great movie and that soundtrack tho 👌😏
  • I was obsessed with dragons when I was a kid and I was born in 2000, which was the year of the dragon. This movie held a special place in my heart as a child.
  • There's a little Mini-movie that came out called "Book of Dragons" which basically showed all the dragons that were in the book. Definitely recommend seeing it for just some of the different species of dragons in this world. 👌
  • Dude your reactions to this was absolutely worth it! Please do see the sequel, it really shows so much character growth for Hiccup and the gang. The dragons and the world also expands massively!!! And the music is chef’s kiss.
  • @sad_doggo2504
I do find it funny how they added so much detail to the HTTYD guidebook in the movie since in the original book, it only contained one sentence: "YELL AT IT!"
  • Mello , last week Kung Fu Panda and now HTTYD , thank u so much!!! I hope you watch the sequels soon.
  • The prevailing theory of why Hiccup lost his foot is that Toothless grabbed him by the foot as they fell into the fire but did it so fast he ripped off Hiccup’s foot.
