  • Yeah cause someone whos behind a cyber attack is gonna admit it. How stupid are we???
  • @jaysonj9327
They've been saying they want you to reduce your "carbon footprint." Now they're turning it up a notch.
  • Right now theres a prepper sitting comfortably saying i Told You So!
  • @Soilednips
Dont airlines have to give out like $3,000 per person for delays if they exceed a certain time?

There's no such thing as "The Cloud". It's just someone else's computer.
  • @Bharat-i8x
Switch to Linux , it's free and much stable. Windows is full of bloatware and issues

Crowdstrike - what a name. They definitely struck the crowd today.
  • @apl175
not sure how they're going to get everything going again on end-user devices. You have to boot in to Windows, enter a recovery key, and manually delete a file to fix things. This fix apparently can only be done interactively at the actual device - and not pushed from the cloud or a server.
  • At least its not a hack (as far as we know); just a botched operations task. "Security" software that kills half the computers in the country. Well, the most secure computer is one that is turned off so..."
  • @timmark4190
Has to fix each computer one at a time. This will take time

More likely a hack than not. There CEO just might not know that yet, or he does and someone told him to say it's a bug so as not to freak out the world. Remember that software updates go through testing during development prior to being deployed to customers. Then they are tested again at the customer site prior to the customer allow it into their live production systems. How likely is it that such an impactful 'bug' did not show up during testing at all the companies being affected?  My guess is the 'bug' was planted deep in the code some time ago (several versions prior) such that there was time for all the customers to do their testing and put it into their working environment. Then the hackers pulled the trigger at a time that it would impact worldwide systems so they could cash in on possibly a stock market crash, political instability, etc. But it doesn't look like the world is going to end today folks.
  • It sounds like we need a more dependable OS than Windows. Ever heard of Linux?
  • Crowdstrike is probably a sleeper virus. The name alone tells you what you need to know. Just had the date stamp of today
  • @Annie4Always
Wow! How sad & extremely aggravating for all the poor travelers! Bless them! Well, so much for certain folks thinking they can substitute using human beings for technology! 'Sheesh! Hopefully someone will now get it! That "You still gotta plug 'em in.' Indeed! Or, in this case 'Update them." Blessings to all the stranded folks. Let's hope & pray this 'glitch' is resolved very soon! Thank you for sharing!

I love she has a bingo card of national disasters.
  • You aren't asking what engineers they had working on the program! They saved a few bucks & had Indian engineers write the code!
