There’s a huge crowd in front of him, but John mayer is only trying to impress one man.

BB King is the perfect example of the saying “Less is more”

What's so frustratingly impressive about BB is that what he plays isn't particularly difficult, so you look at his tab and think I'll do that. But when I play it, it's so lacking something. BB king just makes every note so meaningful. His phrasing is perfect, every note is played as if it's the last note he will ever play

Morgan freeman + Morgan freeman = B.B king

If you're a musician, you'll more inclined to understand that this isn't a competition. It's a conversation.

When BB King said " you keep that up imma get up and walk outta here" even I was like "okay ill be quiet now" ..

The tone on BB’s guitar is genuinely perfect. I can’t think of a better tone.

BB King been playing the same 5 chords for 60 years and it still hits. It's that feeling behind it that drives it.

John is a great guitarist but this was a lesson. Just look at how relaxed bb king's style is and yet how completely perfect his timing is with the placement of every note. A true king of the blues

No matter HOW good your are.... It takes HUGE BALLS to play next to BB like that. I would be shaking in my boots!

BB's axe definitely looks and sounds like the Rolce Royce of guitars.

Man when BB gives him the thumbs up and claps during his solo… I can only imagine how complete that must make you feel as a musician

Still coming back to this performance in 2022. Timeless. RIP BB

You could see the age behind the guitars. Blues is a conversation, BB King is a wise experienced man...his words are slow, smooth, and clear. He's one of those speakers that doesn't have to speak loud for everyone to listen, people just know what he's about to say is good so they want to listen. While John Mayer is like a recent college graduate, he has a ton of highly technical knowledge and an expansive education and he's excited to share it with everyone so he speaks fast, almost tripping over his words. He has a lot to say and he tries to get it out in a single breath. They are both amazing musicians and its just interesting to see the difference in their styles.
