“But you saved your leg” “I wish I hadn’t” Let that sink in

Still watching in 2021. Gregory House has to be one of the greatest fictional characters I have ever witnessed. Nothing sums him up better than this- "You spend your whole life looking for answers because you think the next answer will solve all your problems: make you a little less miserable, because when you run out of questions you don't just run out of answers... you run out hope."

Seeing Wilson smile is one of the most precious things in this show. He suffered a lot too..

"Life is pain, i wake up every morning in pain, i go to work in pain. You know how many times I just wanted to give up? How many times I thought about ending it"

The most amazing thing is that House never accepts that he is depressed. The happiest people are able to hide them selves in the most pain.

"Knowledge is knowing what you can change. Wisdom is knowing what you can't."

At least house had Wilson. He was very lucky to have a Wilson unlike many of us.

There is a subtle brilliance about this show. Whenever a patient is introduced, the first thing the show does is objectify the patient as essentially a machine operated by chemical interactions, the way House sees people. Then the patients are humanized, they get a story, a personality. Then, as the episode enters the third act and House is on the final stretch before his lightbulb moment, the two perspectives are wielded in duality as House approaches the final answer. After the climax, the show argues with itself through the characters about which perspective is correct, objective or subjective, and this argument is never resolved, forcing the audience to think. The show has many threads to unravel, mostly philosophical in nature. I thought I’d share this one, since it’s one of the most fascinating, in my opinion.

Dr. Nolan: “If that’s where you’d like to start.” House: “I’ve had a billion things happen to me in my life, how am I supposed to know which ones are relevant?” Dr. Nolan: “As far as I’m concerned, they’re all relevant.” House: “Well, then. We better get moving, ‘cause this session could take fifty years.” House: “I want to get better... whatever the hell that means.” Park: “House hired me when no one else would.” Adams: “He got me fired. He gave me the guts to get fired.” Masters: “He gave me the courage to quit.” Taub: “He made me a better parent... whether he meant to or not.” Thirteen: “I’ll always be grateful.” Chase: “He wasn’t always easy to deal with...” Cameron: “...but somewhere in there, he knew how to love.” Wilson: “He was my friend.” Wilson: “You’ll just try to find someone else and it won’t work. It shouldn’t work!” House: “So that’s the great wisdom you’re imparting? That I’ll always be alone?” Wilson: “There’s only one person you can count on.” House: “I had all these doctors telling me that I should amputate and I said, “No.” They did this very risky operation. I almost died.” Hanna: “But you saved your leg.” House: “I wish I hadn’t.” Wilson: “This has never been about what you missed. This is about why you missed it. You’re terrified that you’re losing your gift...losing who you are.” House: “You think I can fix myself?” Cuddy: “I don’t know.” House: “‘Cause I am the most screwed up person in the world.” Wilson: “I have five months to live and you’re making me go through this ALONE?” House: “Almost dying changes nothing, dying changes everything.” House: “I’m so sorry.” Wilson: “What happened out there was your show.” House: “You’re scared to death of losing anyone that matters to you, so you dump the person that matters most to you.” Wilson: “I’m not scared to death, I’m moving forward.” House: “Because no one can take away from you what you no longer have.” Wilson: “You’re not just a regular guy who’s getting older. You’ve changed, you’re miserable and you’re afraid to face yourself.” House: “OF COURSE I’VE CHANGED!” Thirteen: “You spend your whole life looking for answers. Because you think the next answer might change something, maybe make you a little less miserable. And you know that when you run out of questions you don’t know just run out of answers, you run out of hope.” House: “YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW I FEEL?” Cuddy: “Why do you need to negate everything?” Foreman: “This wasn’t your fault!” House: “THAT’S THE POINT! I did everything right, she died anyway.” Taub: “You know he’s making an impossible choice, he just doesn’t want to live in pain.” House: “LIFE IS PAIN! I wake up every morning, I’m in pain. I go to work in pain. You know how many times I’ve wanted to just give up? How many times I’ve thought about ending it?” House: (screams of agony) House: “I’m not gonna say, “I love you”” Wilson: “Thank God.”

“You’re scared to death, of losing anyone that matters, so you dump the person that matters the most to you. Because no one can take away from you what you no longer have.” The chills. Give an oscar to the screenwriters ALREADY!

"This wasn't your fault" "That's the point!!! I did everything right, she died anyway!" As an EMT, this gets me everytime Update: as of a few months, I work as an ER nurse now

Just passed 5 years, and still my favourite House Edit of all time, exceptional work

This is the most underrated house compilation I have ever seen. I watch it daily, cheers.

Man this show is so deep. I love how the main character house is portrayed as a walking paradox. He's a genius when it comes diagnosing and fixing the problem, but yet isn't able to fix his own personal issues. Awesome video btw and keep up the good work

2021 and this show has still thaught me valuable lessons. Thank you for everything Hugh Laurie, and all of House MD actors and staff.
