"If you are 29 rounds deep in a firefight where that one round would have made the difference, you probably suck at planning." - John Lovell, Warrior Poet Society.

I guess the lesson is train with your gear. If your system has that issue load 28. If not load 30.

Palmetto State Armory AR on a $49 lower, $300 upper build kit - never had a single problem with full mags

My $1200 Aero precision rifle has never let me down. Pretty much the quality of Daniel defense without the monetary robbery of buying a Daniel defense rifle.
  • It's actually the magazine. Standard gray GI aluminum mags don't have much room. Magpul pmags and a lot of other polymer mags have a little room for that reason, thats how you can force 31 rounds into most pmags. That came from guys that were forced to run metal mags in their career and the thought process carried into the polymer mags and they regurgitated into forums and YouTube videos. In the courses I teach, I always bring 2 old GI aluminum mags, to show students, then I load 31 rounds into one of their pmags, show how it won't fit on a closed bolt, then I remove the 31st round and show how it fits on a closed bolt with 30 rounds.

I've literally never had this issue loading 30 rd mags on a closed bolt just set the purse down and slap your mag in with some force

Yeah, I build rifles and I've never had this problem and what I have found is a lot of people THINK they're loading 30 rounds, but they're actually loading 31 rounds, and that's why their mag won't seat properly. It's a pretty common mistake and I see it a lot. People don't know that if it's loaded to 30 the top round will be on the right side, and just load to 31 because they lose count or don't count they just go until they can't force rounds into the mag anymore and think that's 30.

Filming with the sun behind you so your teeth are in shadow was a smart move.

I have a two very budget systems--a Diamondback ($550) and a bear creek arsenal (on sale components, came out to $380). Never had issues loading a full mag into either. I've never seen this issue before at all. I've only heard of the 28-round load because they want to take it easy on their mag springs for long term storage. But, I also have never had an issue with that. Shot fully loaded mags that held all 30. Not stored in a closed, airtight container or anything. They were under my bed in Texas humidity for 7 years. Everything fired just fine. And they shoot steel just fine as well. Never had any problems with any of that. Not saying these problems don't exist, just that I'm genuinely clueless about them because I've never experienced those issues before

It's not about quality. It's not about 28 or 30 rounds. It's about being competent and pushing your mag all the way in. That's it. A $200 and a $2000 rifle will do the same thing if you don't push your mag in all the way, and they will do the same thing if you do push them in all the way.
  • The cowboy hat with just a hoodie not only looks good as is, especially the hat, but looks even better when you don't look like someone larping COD. It gives off uniqueness, character, and seriousness/maturity.

So Cal Deputy Sheriff here: We’re issued M4’s made by FN and load our mags to 28 rounds. Thanks.
