  • Fun fact: to the idea of spiders having an angle when climbing and actually realistic climb/crawling (like the same that frogs tilt when going down a block but in all directions) mojang said it would be too scary. Yet they added the warden (something that would make you scream in terror) Btw that bone serpent thing for lava lake actually is already a thing in Alex’s Mobs :/ you can make a lava surfboard out of them tho :0
  • I gotta say that The Soulsand mob is by far one of the best fanmade mobs you had ever created, but at the same time idk if it should have a name or not, but if it did I think it should be called a Soulhive, due to it being made of multiple souls.

As a mod and datapack developer myself, I must say the soul sand creature is very impressive. I use blockbench as well, and I know how janky it can be at times, but I think this was executed perfectly. I genuinely did not expect something that cool when I clicked on this video, congratulations this is awesome :D

As soon as you started drawing the soul sand valley creature with hands, I immediately thought of gloom hands from The legend of Zelda Tears of the kingdom.

3:13 it may surprise you but Sims 1-Sims 3 soundtracks are one of the most wholesome and one of the scariest things you could ever listen to. Just like Minecraft they do contain the cute and the nightmare inducing content.
  • i feel like the nether is underutilized in terms of horror mods, yes the overworld is where you start out in and can be equally dangerous with some biomes, mobs, and terrain, but minecraft's equivalent to hell should not be a getaway vacation. i remember someone making a super persistent, super dangerous mob in their mod command-block-based thing, a big bulky demon humanoid in armor that's super fast, can climb and also see you from far, far away. as mildly unfair as it was, i like the idea of making the nether a truly dreadful place... though to do that you'd probably need to overhaul the nether as a whole in the meantime though it's nice to see mods like this that realize the nether's scare potential and make it worth fearing quick edit: holy shit that soul sand valley monster is actually kinda horrifying, with how it looks for you before trying to pull you into the ground and then giving full pursuit. and then if you defeat it - it doesn't even fully die! as it falls apart before pulling itself back together... fine idea, but it could use some tweaking. maybe instead of resurrecting on the spot, it instead retreats back into the ground and leaves behind a special item that could be used for some sort of special weapon, armor or tool (maybe a single soul breaks off from it and collecting it and using it for yourself allows that soul to fight for you or something?). though be quick about it since it'll quickly reappear elsewhere in the valley and go back to looking for you from a distance.

Ideas: I think the bone snake should not jump that high, but instead move slowly through the lava until it decides to ram the player or jump the bridge. Kind of like the reaper leviathan. If you can tame one, I think it should be able to protect items you drop on death from the lava.

The Soul Sand Valley mob reminds me of the enemy "Dead Hands" from Zelda Ocarina of Time
  • @HordaRoja1
This is so good, needs to be a public mod imo

i love the bone serpent, but i feel like it could be improved by making it a bit longer, also i have no idea how difficult it is but it would also look very cool with a segmented body.
  • Ngl I feel like the bone snake should be half the size and then be thinner and longer just to have a more serpent feel. Maybe also have a particle effect to show before it comes out of netherac similar to the sandstorm from lethal company.

I gotta say my favorite has be the soulsand creature, and I think one of the reasons is the amount of lore that emanates from it, specifically cuz of 4:02. I'm assuming this was purely for creepy aesthetic, but the skulls, candles, bones, and soulfire gave me strong ritual vibes. We already know resurrection is canon cuz of undead mobs, so why not base it off that? My idea for this could be how this thing is the result of cult-like practices. Built from the souls and bones of the damned, this cult of some sorts was able to bring life to this nightmarish beast, worshipping it as a superior being. When their 'deity' tried to kill one of them, all they did was grant it a sacrifice (via one of their own) in an attempt to please it and stop its bloodthirsty rampage. Thankfully, the creature would burrow underground and lie dormant until it desires more. Every time it returned, the cult would continue giving it sacrifices, however it'd always have to be more than before. Eventually, no cult members remained, later rendering this reanimated amalgamation to be too weak, as It has to be fueled by souls in order to function properly. For the actual gameplay, I like to think that this is an optional creature to encounter. In order for it to spawn, you must create a structure similar to what's shown in the video. But in order for the process to be completed, you must kill mobs within the structure's area (similar to a skulk catalyst) until enough souls have been sucked into the ground. From there, the creature finally has enough strength, immediately hungry for more lives. As for the fight, it works the exact same way it does here, except you can eventually kill it, it'll just take some time. With each time you slay it, it loses more of its power, becoming more vulnerable with each time it perishes. Eventually (by some indicator), the player will know to have to burn the body (not the limbs or head) of the creature via lava, stopping it from reanimating. If the player doesn't do this, the beast will put itself back together and retreat, forcing the player to redo the ritual if they want another chance. The incentive, however, is if the player succeeds, they'll be rewarded with its skeletal remains, being able to pick them up and use it to craft a special item of some sorts. Perhaps a new weapon, a set of strong armor, or something entirely different. If I were to give it a name, my half-baked answer would be the Necrogod (death + deity). I'm sure someone can come up with a better name for it though For the record, if I got a nickel for every time I gave lore to one of Josh's creatures, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice 💀that's all, have a good rest of your day
  • @Tatsers
"Do snakes even have bones?" is definitely a question, idk if it's one you should be asking out loud though.
  • @alexb859
Awesome video!!! Also I got an idea for the Soul Sand Beast, it is a beast that can come back to life no matter what, but I would like it to have a weakness, like it can be scared of Warped Fungus, and making the New Warped Fungus Sword would be the only way to defeat it for good, but thats my idea
  • @StummJedla
He’s back!!! Oh, and love the monster concepts. Especially the bone serpent as it pairs well with some of the Nether ambience that may, or may not, allude to there being creatures beneath the lava. Very neat.
  • Ah yes, "Making nether monsters.... Two of them are skeletons," it's just peak character design
  • @unknown_void45
Very good ideas for monsters. True, in the Alex Mobs fashion there is already a smaller monster - the bone snake. And it seems that the animations look a little jerky and strange. But overall it's very good.

I don't think warden is scary But I think Minecraft is missing BIG creature's
