  • This rescue was kind of surreal, as everyone is still on the beach, even the rescued mom seems to be confused why noone is panicking and running away.
  • What an ingenious strategy, Naude. Not only were the rest of the seals undisturbed but the release seal just casually ambled away, and paused as if to say 'nothing to see here folks'. That was by far one of the very best single handed capture-aid-release plans executed to date.
  • One of the awesome things about this is that these animals aren't even technically endangered. This is pure humanitarianism with a goal to stop the suffering of an animal
  • Wow, two years ago, and this is still an amazing video. The fact that Naude was able to be so close without scaring them is amazing. It's so cool that Naude was willing to spend so much time sneaking up on them so that he wouldn't disturb them is amazing too.
  • I love the way she runs a few feet away from him after getting released but then just sits right there like nothing happened.
  • @wunnell
It looks like they've finally accepted you as one of their own.
  • @shAnn0n1
Just amazing. The 45 minute wait, her finally falling asleep, Naude quietly capturing her......he was so stealth like that the others didn't even notice. Just amazing.
  • Naude has the biggest heart of anyone I have come across. Merry Christmas to him, his family, and the Ocean Conservation Namibia Team.
  • That was your most stealth capture and release yet. You did it all by yourself with little disturbance to the other seals. So well done!
  • Amazing. Naude is the Obi-Wan of seal rescue. Being so careful to not spook the others - at considerable risk to yourself - is more than commendable.
  • I am so amazed at how well you not only treat your patients. But how well you treat each other!!
  • She just goes over and sits afterwards, looking at the guy like, "what was that about?" lol
  • That was probably the stealthiest save you've made. All the other seals remained calm, and when you cut the line and released her, she stayed close by, probably because of the babies. Great save👍👍 smooth as could be
  • Great job Naude! Wow, she was so calm for the most part. Probably so happy to have that off too. Thank you!
  • Naude, this was such a VERY smooth and stealthy approach, net, removal and return!! This mom showed almost no trauma. I just love that her and her baby were not separated for long. Over an hour of creeping and crawling and yet you were so careful and gentle and mindful of the entire colony🥰
  • The persistence and kindness of this man is incredible, it's so nice to see people who genuinely care ❤❤❤
  • @alabaster193
What an incredible catch. Thank you, Sir. You are a credit to the human race and a blessing to these animals.
  • You have the patience of a saint, 45 min till she sleeps crawling for over 20 min to not disturb the others and then so gentle with her... Great Job!
  • My favorite rescue- when everyone around stays calm
