I just built my first modern PC. My dad has been building and programming for 40 years and i recently lost him. One of the things we wanted to do together was build one again together since his brain wasnt what it used to be. So i started watching you and some others to get back up to speed from when i was a teenager. Sadly, i lost him before we got to do that, so after i packed up his house i decided to go straight to microcenter for my first time. This was my first ever full build including selecting and buying my own choice of hardware. I think the thing came out absolutely beautiful. I did research for about a year and a half and got it to post on my first try. Im really proud of this build, and I could not have done it without your videos, and a few other influencers. I wish my dad was here to see it. He would have loved all of the lights and nonsense... haha god he was so old school. Ty for everything that you do. Im still learning how to set this thing up for max performance. This thing is an absolute BEAST of a machine.
  • "New stuff coming out is not gonna make your PC suddenly stop working. All that's changed is the ceiling." That's hella comfortable. It really is comforting to see because all you see are people just getting the baddest and greatest of builds. For us midrange, or even budget gamers, we just want a PC that runs on decent FPS on older games because we never had the time or the hardware to play with them before.
  • After 2 years of waiting out the pandemic, so glad that I’m finally going to build my first ever PC this October. Was a long wait but finally feels worth it.
  • This is exactly what I needed , I was nervous as I’m a first builder / pc owner and was very confused and kinda lost but with this I’m confident to get my budget build 😊 thank you ♥️
  • "They keep getting wider, but not necessarily taller" Aren't we all...
  • I love how you still appreciate that $1500 is a lot of money
  • the best video i have seen from you so far. not only you hit right my needs as im now building my second-ever pc after at least five years, but the way you presented it. perfect, and honest. thank you!
  • First time doing my own build rather than someone else getting me setup. Your videos have been immensely helpful. Thank you.

Me who's already built one: Yes I'm ready.
  • I've been a life long "behind the power curve" builder/user, always getting 1 to 2 generation older parts new and below MSRP. This has undoubtedly saved me a good amount of sanity over the last few years and I am grateful for it.
  • 11:02 You hit the nail on the head. I have a huge love hate with finishing the build. The research, planning, layout and assembly is what I enjoy most.
  • Even as a techie it’s always nice to recap on information and even learn a few new things. Looking to put together a new system this year. My current one is about 5 years old.
  • I pride myself in prolonging tech for as long as I can before upgrading. That also makes it feel massive whenever an upgrade is done.
  • Thanks Jay! I plan on building my first system this fall and this video has done a great job in addressing some of my concerns and questions. You and Paul are doing a super job keeping us newbies from making major mistakes as we learn. Thanks again!
  • Great segment Jay. I recently did some maintenance on my parents 10 year old i7-3610QM AIO. Move everything to an SSD, refreshed the thermal paste and have it a good dust out and it keeps ticking with Windows 10. They need a new one but it is amazing what a good spec from 10 years ago can do today. A moderate upgrade with an i5 12600K or Ryzen 5800X would probably go another 10 year’s.
  • Just followed your advice. Super happy with my 5000 build in 2022. $1500 went so much further than I thought it would.
  • Might I add one more point... The benefit of buying last gen platform - all kinks have been ironed out by the time the new stuff comes out. I am sure that ZEN4 platform will have bugs that would take at least a few months to resolve, while ZEN3 is relatively bug free now. So, if you need a stable system, go for last gen.
  • Just going to say this “I appreciate and love you man” for real. You taught me a lot and break it all down so simply and for anyone to understand every video. Keep of the great content and videos.
  • Getting ready to build my first PC after years of just buying laptops. I've been watching many hours of your videos here on YouTube, thanks for all your hard work, it really helped demystify the process.

You had me nailed to the wall in the first minute. This video is for me. Now I'm going to watch the rest of the video and consider how I'm going to build my first pc. Thx Jay!
