Rwanda’s long arm

You can’t betray your country and get away with it. Whoever you might be. Including those still alive. They will suffer the consequences,’ said Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda in a speech in January 2014.

The president is quite clear about it. His opponents must be on their guard. Wherever they are in the world. The long arm of dictator Kagame will track them down, monitor and threaten them. It is known that secret agents of the regime in Rwanda operate in Sweden, Belgium and England, among other places.

Human rights activists suspect that they are also active in the Netherlands. Kagame's intelligence agency is said to conduct clandestine operations here, spying on and intimidating the Rwandan community.

In Europe there would even be death squads. Is it paranoia, or does Rwanda’s long arm really reach as far as the Netherlands? What does the Dutch government know about this? And does the Dutch government protect the Rwandan refugees or is The Hague actually cooperating with the Rwandan regime? Zembla investigates the boundless power of a dictatorship.

  • I’m from Canada as Rwandan and I will do my part make sure I give him my vote🤝🏾unity will take us far😎❤️
  • I will be visiting Rwanda for business opportunities in the near future. Rwanda story is an inspiration to us Pan Africanists
  • I visited Rwanda, very intersting poeple and a progressive country. The haters and enemies of 3rd world progress will always hinder its development.
  • Journalist seems to ignore that Rwandan diaspora in Europe is divided into pro and anti regime since 1994. In Belgium for example there Bars reserved for hutus. If these people threaten each other, how can this be on the account of the government of Rwanda? These people haven't followed reconciliation efforts that happened in Rwanda.
  • This documentary is so inconsistent why not mention that the people protesting in London are from Congo why must you say they are Rwandan’s. Always unjust to African issues because you give out aid doesn’t mean you get to dictate how people govern their country.

What's the alternative! A country that went through unthinkable genocide can't take any instability, not right but u can imagine why he is so cautious

  • Compare Rwanda in time and geography with the country as it was in 1994 and before, and with what it is today. Rwanda has done amazingly well. Thank you very much, H. E.

Politics will always be politics and for whatever reason there has to be done anything for the safety of the country. Stop pointing out Kagame as the bad guy here yet he’s done everything to put this country on track when everyone else had abandoned it.
